As part of their learning and teaching on the topic of transport, P5-7 paid a visit to the Stena Line port at Cairnryan.Β This was arranged with the assistance of Mrs Mc Intyre, a parent who works there.
By all accounts it was a fantastic visitΒ . The staff at StenaΒ couldn’t have been nicer. The children got to be in the control room in the terminal and behind the customer services desk (much to the surprise/ amusement of a Japanese tour guide!) They then watched the boat docking and unloading before going on board. Norris McLean gave them a full tour of the vessal, including the bridge. There were lots of great questions all round from the boys and girls. They finished off their tripΒ by getting juice and crisps at the terminal courtesy of Stena.
“On the 1st of June p5-7 went on a trip to Stena to learn about the ship becauseΒ we are learning about transport. We got a tour of the boat andΒ got to see all the placesΒ were the staff are allowed and whereΒ the lorry drivers go. We got to ask questions all about the boat. On theΒ ferry they can fit 1200 people. We also saw where they answer the phones when you are booking to go on theΒ boat.Β It was one of the best trips we have ever been on. Thanks toΒ the people at Stena for letting us come.”Β (Β Arden Mcintyre, p5)
