Staff, pupils and parents at Leswalt Primary were delighted today when it was announced the Leswalt Primary was the winning Scottish school, and 2nd out of 1100 schools in the UK who took part in “The Big Pedal”. This was the result of 15 days real effort by the whole community – to leave the cars at home and cycle to school. Congratulations to all!
Pupils in p1-5 enjoyed a Generation Science workshop afternoon on the topic of “Bees”. This input complemented classroom learning on Minibeasts and was a fun, hands on event for all.
Leswalt Primary 7 pupils were the winners of the Wigtownshire schools curling bonspeil competition which was held on the 16th March 2011. Well done team Leswalt!
Ann Ferguson (Active Schools co-ordinator) came to Leswalt Primary yesterday, and led the p1-4 children through some safety games on bicycle. This linked in with our participation in “The Big Pedal” . Have a look at our photographs.
Leswalt Primary pupils continue to cycle in all weathers – and pupils went that bit extra today by cycling to school in the snow. Many resembled snowmen on bicycles by the time they reached school! All this effort is to great effect as Leswalt Primary is currently now 2nd place in the National Big Pedal competition. Well done to all of the Leswalt cyclists! We are now 2nd in the whole of the UK, thanks to parents and siblings joining in with the cycling fun. Even if it keeps on raining, we need to keep on pedalling!
