STEM Challenge!

Today, we were given the challenge to work in pairs to see who could create the longest paper chain using only one sheet of paper.

We had to work cooperatively with each other, using our problem solving skills to decide how we could best use our limited paper to make our paper chain as long as possible, discussing our ideas before we began to cut up our paper.

We realised that, though thicker, shorter pieces of paper made stronger chains, to make our chains long it was necessary to use long, thin pieces of paper to link together.

When our time was up, we stretched our our paper chains next to each other to compare them.

The results were really impressive, and the end results were really close, but here is the winning chain…

We were able to identify that this challenge helped us to practise a lot of different skills, including teamwork, problem solving, and creativity, which we all were able to use successfully.

Well done P6R!
