We have mentioned the C word already! (SORRY!!)

We have been working on our Cauliflower Cards for Christmas. We were using the style of pointillism, were we have been using cotton buds and paint to create a Christmas design. We thought about different things that are related to the time of the year and created our own designs.  It’s 88 days till Christmas!

We will be working on the Mock Court project over the next few weeks. We have been put into teams and we will be given roles to play and complete tasks. We will ultimately end up in court against other teams/schools in the battle to win the court case.

Over the last few weeks, we have had a focus on creating original characters and detailed setting in our writing sessions. We have greatly improved on these skills as the weeks have gone on. Mrs Hunter is impressed with the quality of work that we have been producing.

We will continue to keep you updated with all of the work that is happening in class.

Kung Fu Punctuation and Space Rockets!

This week, we have been continuing to work on our original character and setting descriptions. We have been using our senses to enhance our descriptions. As our starter for our writing this week, we used a writing game called Kung Fu punctuation. We had to channel our inner ninja and follow the moves for each of the different forms of punctuation.

We have been finding out about SpaceX and Elon Musk. They have been working to change space travel. We watched some videos and then used the laptops to research the different rockets that they are sending into space. We used our skimming and scanning and note taking skills as being able to work in a group to gather our information.

Paper chains and constellations!

This week, we have been continuing to work on the written method of our addition and subtraction questions. We are able to lay them out correctly in our jotters. We have been applying this knowledge to word problems and having to make decisions as to which operation is needed.

We have been researching constellations this week. We had to use a variety of websites, skim and scan for information, and transfer the information into our own words. We created posters with a drawing of the constellation and using the facts that we had found.

Finally this week, we worked on a team building task. We worked in pairs to create paper chains. We were given scissors, glue and one piece of A4 paper. We used a variety of strategies to create these and Noam and Demi were the eventual winners!

If you are reading this, HI!

Hello,

We have had an another very busy week.
We have started our new class novel which is called “Out of the  Depths” by Cathy MacPhail. We have read the first few chapters and it seems funny, exciting and weird.

We have been thinking about our fitness in PE and have been doing long runs and working on our pace and stamina.

We have started our mini Space topic. We did a KWL to think about our prior knowledge and we have been researching the planets.

In writing, we had a focus on setting and using our senses to help with the description. We were using an image as a starting point and built our story around that.

We are looking forward to the Meet the Teacher next Tuesday and showing some of the work that we have completed so far this term.

First week back

Hello all,

We have had a very busy first week back at Redwell. We have managed to line up at the correct wing, make our way round the school and survive the week in primary 6.

We have been completing a variety of different tasks, such as maths games, writing and ERIC.

We have been writing letters to our future selves for a time capsule that we will open at the end of the year. We found this rather difficult to think about the tense that we should be writing in.

Throughtout the week, we have been doing mental agility tasks and working on a variety of skills to help with that.

The PE days for P6H are Monday, Thursday and Friday. We have art with Mrs Barron on a Tuesday.

Please remember to send water bottles on a daily basis as it can be warm in school.

We will keep you posted throughout the year with all the goings on in class.

Mrs Hunter and P6H
