As part of their Italian Context for Learning, P4W looked at lot of different Italian fashion houses and brands. We decided to create our own fashion houses, design a piece of clothing and think about what materials we could use to make our designs come to life. We used lots of different things including black bin bags, ribbon, paper cups, cardboard boxes, pipe cleaners and lots and lots and lots of sticky gems! Don’t they look fantastic?!
Freya, Cassidy and Kacey designed a new style of high heel.
Caleb and Mitchell designed a new brand of trainers.Hannah and Megan designed a dress.Starting to make our designs come to life.We used paint to decorate our trainers, and used pipe cleaners to act as laces!Ellie made sure nothing went to waste – using feathers to make earrings!Once our designs were complete, we presented them to the class and told everyone how much they would have to pay if they would like a to buy our designs.Once our designs were complete, we presented them to the class and told everyone how much they would have to pay if they would like a to buy our designs.Once our designs were complete, we presented them to the class and told everyone how much they would have to pay if they would like a to buy our designs.Once our designs were complete, we presented them to the class and told everyone how much they would have to pay if they would like a to buy our designs.Once our designs were complete, we presented them to the class and told everyone how much they would have to pay if they would like a to buy our designs.Once our designs were complete, we presented them to the class and told everyone how much they would have to pay if they would like a to buy our designs.Made to measure! On Thursday P1 had their Christmas party and they all had a brilliant time. P1 have all worked hard to learn the Flying Scotsman, the Hokey Cokey and the Birdie Dance.
P1 all looked very smart in their party clothes. They played pass the parcel, musical statues and musical bumps. What super dancers we have in P1!
On Monday Elvis asked us to sort through some different Christmas objects investigating whether or not they were magnetic. The children had lots of fun carrying out this activity and we learned some information about magnets and forces. We love science!
Our trays were full of lots of Christmas things all made of different materials.
The children worked well together recording their findings as they went along.
P1 went on a Google expedition to the North Pole. The pupils got to use a mobile phone to view different scenes in a virtual reality adventure. When they lifted the phone up or moved the phone from side to side they got to view a different part of the scene. P1 got to see Santa’s Grotto, the stables where he keeps his reindeer, his workshop and Santa on his sleigh.
We listened very carefully to our instructions. What an adventure! We loved every second!
What a great experience! Thanks Google Expeditions!
Today Elvis challenged us to work as a team and build a Christmas tree using green plastic cups. We had lots of great ideas during our brainstorm session and we tried lots of different ways to make it work.
It was quite tricky because we each had to use all 50 cups!
The green group worked so well as a team and managed to complete the challenge first.
To make it even more difficult Miss Stark told the class to try again – but this time they weren’t allowed to touch the cups with their hands! The children very quickly came up with a number of solutions.
On Thursday P2S visited the Orchard Care home to sing some Christmas Songs! The children really enjoyed doing the performance and are already asking to go back and do it again!
The boys and girls had an amazing time at their Christmas party on Friday! Thank you Mr Roberts for teaching us some Scottish country dances. Here’s a clip of us doing the Virginia Reel –
All of the children looked fabulous in their party clothes!
We really love the Hokey Cokey dance! Here is a video of us in action:
P1M wrote some excellent stories about winter. They had some fabulous ideas for their stories, for example, some children wrote about sledging, snowball fights and building snowmen. P1 talked about what they might wear in the winter weather too. They used this information to ensure that they added detail to their pictures. The boys and girls are trying really hard to form their letters carefully following the Read, Write Inc rhymes.
P2S were faced with another challenge from Elvis on Thursday! We had to try and find a way to stop Santa’s bells from making a jingling noise!
‘We put some sparkly pipe cleaners into the bell to stop it from ringing so much then we put it inside a Christmas bauble. You can still hear it a little bit’ – Mason and Finlay‘Our bell only makes a tiny noise because we packed it into a christmas bauble with lots of cotton wool and pom poms.’ – Kara and Lacey
The children came up with some wonderful and creative ideas to tackle this challenge and they had lots of fun doing it!
P1 love their big buddies. On Friday afternoons the P1 children get to spend some time with their big buddies. Each week the children participate in a different activity and the P7 children support the P1 pupils.
