Funding for the Provision or Upgrading of Sports Facilities (Scotland)
Schools, and other organisations such as local authorities, area sports associations, sports trusts and charities; etc can apply for funding of up to £100,000 (to a maximum of 50% of the project costs) to improve their sports facilities. In areas of high deprivation, the maximum grant can be up to 75% of project costs. Grants are available to help with the provision or upgrading of sports facilities that are for the public good and which benefit the community. There are two application routes depending on the value of the project. Small Grants for applications with a total project value between £20,000 and £250,000 (including VAT). Large Grants for applications with a total project value of over £250,000 (including VAT). The next closing date for applications is the 1st April 2019.
Grants Available to Support the Teaching of Physics in Primary and Secondary Schools (UK)
Primary and secondary schools in the UK have until the 1st March 2019 to apply for funding to enhance physics teaching and learning. The funding is available to groups of schools working together to promote physics both with primary and secondary education. Partnerships of schools can apply for funding to support events, activities, trips and training. Partnerships can be a mix of maintained schools, academies, free schools and independent schools. Examples of these include trips to local museums or places of interest; careers events; extra-curricular physics or astronomy clubs; and physics fairs or competitions; etc. The funding is being made available through the Ogden Trust.
Competition for Young Space Entrepreneurs (UK)
The UK Space Agency is offering young people expert advice and a share of £50,000 for their ideas of how satellites could improve life on Earth. The SatelLife Competition is now in its third year and is looking for innovative proposals that have the potential to use data collected from space to benefit our economy, health or the environment. The competition is open to young people aged 11 to 22 as individuals or in teams and is split into three age groups. There are two overall prizes of £7,500 for the best individual and best team. A further seven entries from across the age categories will win £5,000. The competition closes on the 3rd March 2019.
Rowing Foundation Grants Programme (UK)
The next deadline to apply to the Rowing Foundation is Wednesday 14th February 2019. The Foundation offers grants of £500-£2,000 to help organisations, schools and clubs involved in on water elements of the sport of Rowing who are individually affiliated to British Rowing (other than via their governing body) and whose requirements may be too small or who may be otherwise ineligible for an approach to the National Lottery or other similar sources of funds. The Foundation prefers to encourage participation in rowing by the young or disabled through the provision of equipment, such as boats, sculls, ergos, oars and essential safety equipment.
