NHS TAYSIDE P.O.S.T (Paediatric Overweight Service Tayside)
Childhood Obesity and the Role of the Professional
Training Courses Levels 1 & 2

These 2 half day courses are for professionals from any sector – NHS, Council, Leisure, Education and Voluntary Bodies who work with children and are interested in gaining practical skills and up-to date knowledge on childhood obesity.

There is no cost for attending these courses. The courses are delivered by members of the NHS Tayside, Paediatric Overweight Service Tayside team and are available across Tayside in 2018.

Level 1
 what is obesity and how do we recognise it in childhood
 simple positive family lifestyle advice
 role of P.O.S.T. and referral pathways

Tuesday 17th April: 1.30pm – 4.30pm – Arbroath Infirmary – Board Room
Friday 20th April: 9.30am-12.30pm  – PRI, Perth, Fothergill Room (in maternity building)
Tuesday 1st May: 1.30pm-4.30pm  – King’s Cross, Dundee – Board Room

Level 2 (previously level 3)

Friday 8th June: 1.30pm-4.30pm  – King’s Cross, Dundee – Board Room
Wednesday 13th June: 9.30am-12.30pm – PRI, Perth – Board Room

Level 1 is a stand alone course and does not require any previous knowledge of the subject. However please note that for those wishing to undertake level 2 we consider it essential that the courses are undertaken in order – 1 through to 2.

We now also recommend that in your own time you undertake the web based ‘raising the issue’ training from NHS Health Scotland. www.healthscotland.com. and would highly recommend that this is undertaken before taking POST level 2 training.

Places are limited on all courses – to apply for a place please contact Andy Garnett, Active Schools  at GarnettA@angus.gov.uk. You will be sent an application form which you will email back to the NHS Post Team to secure your place.
