Arbroath High School’s Support for Learning Department was delighted to receive a cheque for £1000 raised, over the summer, by the bingo players at the Red Lion HolidayPark. Their very generous donation will pay for Music Therapy and equipment for pupils.
Looking delighted with the cheque are, left to right:
Ty Milne (S3), Jake Lo (S3), Josh Gordon (S3), Dylan Wyness (S4), Beth Greig (S5), Joel Barraclough (S5), Jamie Chisholm (S1), Adam Watson (S1), Ellie Lingard (S3) and Holly Clifford (S4).

On Tuesday 18th October, Arbroath High School pupils, with the help of the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service and The British Heart Foundation, learned how to restart the heart of someone who has suffered a cardiac arrest/ heart attack.
Currently in the UK, less than one in ten people (8.6%) survive a cardiac arrest. Arbroath High School wants to be part of the campaign which aims to train more than 100,000 young people how to perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and improve this figure. If we achieved the same survival rates (25%) as found in parts of Norway where CPR is taught in schools, an additional 100 lives could be saved each week – the equivalent of approximately 5,000 every year!
The picture shows Call Push Rescue Trainer and Head Girl Ellen Wilson on the right with S5 pupil Amy Hood carrying out CPR.

How resilient are you and your family? What about your class? Your colleagues? Are you ready for snow, ice, wind, flooding, rain? Don’t worry, there are simple steps you can take, some have been listed below. If you do any of them tweet using #ReadyScotland and encourage others to be resilient too! For learning journeys and other resources to help deliver lessons in this area you can also visit bit.ly/RfEScot
Snow – keep a blanket, food and water in your car
Ice – identify the stop valve and know how to turn off water
Wind – secure loose objects like garden furniture, trampolines or anything that could get blown around
Flooding – move important documents and valuables to a higher place
Rain – avoid walking or driving through flood water
