Week beginning 6.2.17

children

The plans for this week are as follows:

We begin our new topic of Fairyland this week so there will be lots of excitement when we get a visit from a very special character. We will begin the topic with stories and activities centred around ‘Jack and the Beanstalk’.  Please see our other posting about all the resources we will be gathering over the next few weeks to see if you can help us.

On Tuesday afternoon we will be visiting Kincorth Library with Room 2.  If you can be an additional adult helper between 1.50pm-3pm, please let myself or Mrs Gilmore know.

Reading – Your child will receive a new reading book on Monday and Wednesday. It would be extremely helpful if you could work with your child for a short time each night.

Common Words – your and my. Homework will be given out on Monday and should be completed for the Thursday. Please see your child’s ‘Common Word Book’ for more information.

Phonics and Handwriting – This week we will be reinforcing the sounds g and q, concentrating on the correct formation as we focus on formal handwriting activities in class. The homework has now changed to being a handwriting focus, but will continue to be due on Wednesdays and Fridays.

Word Making – Now that all 26 sounds have been introduced in class, we will be developing the ‘Word Making’ aspect of learning. To help support your child, please try to work with them over the next week to make simple words using their letters found in the envelope at the front of their pink books.

Maths – Addition stories of 9 and 10 and working on our CLIC Targets.

A reminder that gym day is a Thursday. A few children still require gym kit. Please check if you are unsure whether or not your child still has gym clothes in school.
