Week beginning 27.02.17

children

The plans for this week are as follows:

We are continuing with our Fairyland topic and will be meeting some more exciting fairy-tale characters.

Please continue to look for variety pack sized cereal boxes and sweetie wrappers for our art work.

Thursday is World Book Day. We are hoping the children will be able to dress up as a character from a book and we will be enjoying lots of book based activities throughout the day.

Reading – Your child will receive a new reading book on Monday and Wednesday. It would be extremely helpful if you could work with your child for a short time each night.

Common Words – saw and went. Homework will be given out on Monday and should be completed for the Thursday. Please see your child’s ‘Common Word Book’ for more information.

Phonics and Handwriting – This week we will be reinforcing the sounds t and u, concentrating on the correct formation as we focus on formal handwriting activities in class. The homework has now changed to being a handwriting focus, but will continue to be due on Wednesdays and Fridays.

Word Making – Now that all 26 sounds have been introduced in class, we will be developing the ‘Word Making’ aspect of learning. To help support your child, please try to work with them over the next week to make simple words using their letters found in the envelope at the front of their pink books.

Maths – Reading the number names to ten and working on our CLIC Targets.

A reminder that gym day is usually a Thursday. A few children still require gym kit. Please check if you are unsure whether or not your child still has gym clothes in school.

Thank You
