There will definitely be some tired legs tonight after a 5 mile hike, abseiling and rock climbing. Really proud of the group today as a lot of them faced their fears and abseiled down a rock face. We also had some team challenges that involved toilet rolls, balloons and some very creative handshakes! These are a small selection of the photos that were taken today. I’ll make sure I post the rest on our return when we get a better connection. Tomorrow we head for the gorge…it could get messy!!
Newtonmore Day One
We’ve arrived! After a nice pit stop in Aberlour (and only one sick bag!) we reached Craigower Lodge in great spirits. We’ve had a walk around the village and played some getting to know you games with Ross and Ed, our two instructors. After a lovely feed, (everyone ate really well) we are in the middle of some team building problem solving activities. You can probably hear them “working together” from Aberdeen. A great first day. Roll on abseiling and rock climbing tomorrow…after a lovely peaceful sleep!
Lunchtime Discotime
If Friday is a dry day then it’s lunchtime discotime. Our playground becomes a dance floor with our resident DJs Caleb, Michael and Grace. Check out some of these moves!
Fairtrade Cafe
As part of the work that P5 have been doing on Fairtrade, we invited in lots of friends and family into school to feast on some tasty treats. P5 have had baking homework all week and they certainly excelled themselves with the treats that were on offer. We have now raised over £200 for the Fairtrade charity so thank you to everyone who donated and helped Ms Herriot and P5 put on a fantastic afternoon tea.
Wildlife Garden donation
A huge thank you to B&Q who have generously donated Bird Feeders, Bird seed and a £30 voucher to help us improve our Wildlife Garden. Our two Head Gardeners wrote a fantastic letter to B&Q asking if they could help us. We’re very grateful for their kind and generous support.
Scotstown turns red!
Scotstown became a sea of red today as we celebrated and supported Comic Relief by getting dressed in red. We also had a Red Nose Hunt around the playground. Although we haven’t got a final total yet, we managed to sell 8 boxes (320 noses) so we’ve raised a fair amount already. The grand total will be revealed at the next assembly. Thank you to everyone who put their hands in their pockets to donate money to such a worthwhile cause.
Quiz champs
Bring and Buy Bedlam
Our Eco committee and P7 pupils are doing a great job running the Bring and Buy Sale. All the classes will be visiting Room 12 today to spend their money and hopefully raise funds to improve our Wildlife Garden.
Future Nurse Project
Our P2 class had special visitors in today to tell them all about being a Nurse. A huge thank you to Colin and his team who came in and set up different activities for all the children to try. The class had lots of fun and discovered it doesn’t matter if you’re a boy or a girl, anyone can work hard to become a Nurse.
Primary Futures Event
Our P7 and P6/7 HWB representatives had an excellent morning attending the World at Work Primary Futures event at Bramble Brae School. We really enjoyed hearing about lots of different occupations and that anyone can aspire to be what they want to be.
