About our School…

Scotstown School was built in 1969, is sited on the west side of Scotstown Road adjacent to the junction of Scotstown Road and North Donside Road.  The site is approximately 5½ acres in extent with attractive contours and grassy playground areas for pupils.  Access to the school is gained by a pedestrian access north of the vehicular entry on Scotstown Road.
The building, all on the ground floor, has its classrooms in three main units.  The classrooms in each unit are grouped in clusters: two classrooms in each cluster in the early years’ units; four classrooms in each cluster in the junior and senior units.  All P4-P7 classrooms open into central units equipped for practical work.  Each cluster has its own cloakroom/toilet facilities and its own entrance/exit.
The school has two halls: the smaller caters mainly for the early stage pupils; the large main hall for the senior pupils.  Both are multi-purpose and are used for lunches, physical education, assembly, drama and games.  In addition there is a school library for the Nursery-P3 pupils and one for the P4-P7 pupils, a family room, a staffroom, a medical room and an administration block.
The school caters for children from nursery to primary seven.  The nursery caters for 60 children in all – 2 morning classes of 20 and 1 afternoon class of 20.
