Science Fair 2018

Congratulations to Chloe, Hannah and Danielle who were awarded Second overall place in the City Wide Intertek Science Fair held at the Aberdeen University Biodiversity Centre. They had been chosen alongside Mary, Aqsa and Aiyana to represent Scotstown. Both groups did really well and impressed the judges with how well they could talk about their experiments. Well done girls!

Science Fair 2018

On Friday 18th May we went to the city wide Science Fair at the Biodiversity Centre to represent Scotstown school along with another group. We had presented our investigation to Mr Mundie and we were picked to go along to the final alongside other schools.

When we went in we were given a timetable to follow and we went to the botanical garden first. It had beautiful scenery and we thought the maze was good fun. We then got to look round the museum and look at all the stuffed animals. The animals were cool and the fur was really soft and nice. We were then given refreshments.

Finally it was time for the judging!! We spoke about our project as we presented our investigation. It was called Magical Molten Ice-Cream. We chose this because it sounded like a really good (and tasty!) topic. We wanted to explore how adding more methyl cellulose affects the melting point of ice cream. The judges asked us lots of questions and we explained all about our experiment.

All the groups then went to the lecture theatre for the prize giving. We were shocked to hear own group’s name announced as the Second placed team. We were delighted and proudly took our shiny silver star award to let our classmates see.
