Topic
Our topic for the first weeks of this term is Scotland. This week we will continue to watch and listen to some more Katie Morag stories. We will carry on with our clapping, skipping, galloping and doing a little routine with a partner to Scottish music in the gym. The children will get a poem home to learn – Pets by Les Wheeler. We will look at and try to make some tartan patterns.
This week’s star of the week is Jax . He has been fantastic at blending letter sounds together to read words.

This week we are revising our last six letter sounds ai, j, oa, ie, ee, or. For homework use the letters in the envelope at the front of the pink book to make simple words such as rain or coat or bee. Please write the words you make on the sheet in the pink book for Friday.

Topic
Our topic for the first weeks of this term is Scotland. This week we will introduce the topic by looking at a map of Scotland and at where Aberdeen is. We will also be listening to some Scottish stories and watching some of the Katie Morag stories which are set in Scotland.
This week we have the pantomime trip on Tuesday afternoon. Remember we will be late back to school.
Our class Christmas party is on Thursday afternoon along with Rooms 2 and 3. Don’t forget to wear your party clothes.
Friday is the last day of term and treat snack day. We will be going to church in the morning for our end of term service.
Letter Sounds
We will continue with our phonics for the last week of term. This week our letter sounds are oa and ie. Sound oa homework should be completed for Wednesday and sound ie homework should be completed by Friday. The children will need more help to think of words containing these sounds as they are not initial sounds. Suggestions for oa – goat, coat, boat. Suggestions for ie – tie, pie.
