Welcome back and Happy New Year.

Letter Sounds

This week our sounds are ee as in bee and or as in fork. Sound ee homework should be completed for Wednesday and sound or homework should be completed by Friday.

Common Words

Please continue to revise the first 24 common words on the word walls in the white book. Words for this week are was and you. Please complete the common word homework for Thursday. You may need to help your child to write the number after counting the words together. They should also try to write the words.

Reading

The children will get 2 new books this week on Monday and Thursday. We are still on the Big Cat Collins set of books.

Word Pots

The Big Cat Collins books have some words added to match the different books.

Maths

This week we will focus on number – counting, reading, saying, writing.

 

As part of our Big Maths we do CLIC sessions in the class which now in Primary 1 involve C – counting  L – learn its I – it’s nothing new and C – calculations.

Counting – reading 1 digit numbers

Learn its –  3 + 3 = 6 and 4 + 4 = 8 and 5 + 5 = 10

It’s Nothing New – doubling 1 digit numbers

Calculations – understand the concept of adding

 

Topic

Our topic for the first weeks of this term is Scotland. This week we will introduce the topic by looking at a map of Scotland and at where Aberdeen is. We will also be listening to some Scottish stories and watching some of the Katie Morag stories which are set in Scotland.
