On Monday 13th May the annual Christian Aid football tournament took place at Hermitage Academy. Schools from Helensburgh and the local area took place in, what was to be, a very wet football tournament. The Hermitage football team were competing for the first time since the National Finals in which they managed to come 3rd in the whole of Scotland. Their first game was against Cardross which Hermitage won 3-1. They followed this with another two impressive results against Lomond and JLB winning 5-0 and 7-0.

Cardross Primary Health week
Cardross Primary finished the Easter term with their annual health week. Some of the highlights were ‘Healthy Hearts’ with Andy McKechnie, ‘Funky Fitness’ with Julie Smith and the Chest, Heart and Stroke – Cardio Hoop Fundraiser. Thank you to Mrs Sharp for all of her efforts in planning and organising such a wonderful week for pupils and staff.

Cardross Primary School Visit to the Royal College of Surgeons and Physicians, Glasgow
Last week, Mr Henry and four lucky pupils from his class were invited to the Royal College of Surgeons and Physicians in Glasgow to see some of the amazing things that they do. They were able to watch and perform keyhole surgery (on a dummy!) and learned about travel medicine and dentistry. It was a fantatstic experience!
P1 Toy Testing at Cardross with Grasshopper Toys
Primary 1 pupils at Cardross Primary enjoyed an afternoon of toy testing as part of their toys topic this term. Wendy Hamilton of Grasshopper Toys devised the afternoon, allowing the pupils to experiment and and test a range of scientific and traditional toys. Some of the P1 favourites were the space rocket, eco house and the spy pens.

Cardross Cinderella Rockerfella
Cardross Primary has been getting into the festive spirit with their production of Cinderella Rockerfella. The P4-7 pupils performed their dress rehearsals to local primaries and nurseries as well as the senior citizens in the village. This was good preparation for their two sell out shows! Cardross Primary School P1s have taken to the stage this week to perform their nativity play ‘Prickly Hay’. The P1s were ably supported by musicians, dancers and singers in P2 and 3. Cardross Primary raise money for Children in Need
Primary 2 were helped by Primary 7 to raise money for Children in Need 2012. Together they raised an estimated £340! There was a book stall, a toy stall, a baking stall, a soft toy stall, a games stall, and a DVD stall. This was yet another very successful enterprise project brought together by pupils across the school. Well done everybody!
Cardross Primary Garscube Harriers Schools Cross Country Races 2012
Cardross Primary finished on top at the recent Garscube Harriers Scottish Schools Cross Country Races on the 11th November. The primary six boys won their age group finishing in 6th, 7th and 11th place ahead of strong teams from The Glasgow Academy and The High School of Glasgow. Many of the girls also put in strong individual performances and Mrs Girling and Mrs Davis were delighted with the results. Lunch Date with Wallace and Gromit
Cardross Primary entertained some special guests for lunch this week. The pupils were supporting the Wallace and Gromit Charity by enjoying some Wallace and Gromit Pasta. Cardross Primary was transformed into Crunchem Hall School, to celebrate Roald Dahl Day. Cardross Primary Storylab Awards
Cardross Primary were presented with their Summer Reading Challenge Storylab Awards today. The pupils were thrilled that Lesley, the librarian at Cardross Library, came in to school to present their medals. Seventy one pupils from P1to P7 completed the challenge over the summer holidays, giving our local library the best Storylab Summer results!
