Children from the Pre School in Strath of Appin Primary School, along with the children in Primary One and Two have been learning about the traditions and customs surrounding Chinese New Year. Over the past few weeks they have had great fun making lanterns, facemasks, red money envelopes and puppets.
To the musical beats of drums and cymbals, the children performed a traditional lion dance in a lion costume that they had created themselves. To round off the celebrations the whole school sat down to a tasty Chinese lunch, which had been prepared in the school. The children enjoyed trying the various different types of Chinese cuisine and the opportunity to practise their chopstick skills !
I was very impressed with the whole event. I was especially impressed by the chopstick skills shown on the day…… Well done everyone!
