To celebrate the first ever Book Week Scotland, Dunoon Primary School have been busy reading and writing. To launch Book Week Mrs Clark and Mrs Fisher held a whole school assembly where they read aloud their own piece of writing entitled ‘My Favourite Place’. This inspired the whole school to get writing about our own favourite places.
Our infants made Reading Medals and have brought a selection of their favourite books to school.
Pupils in the upper school made badges depicting the book they are currently reading. Each day we have taken part in a whole school read whereby we take a short time out of what we are doing to read for enjoyment.
On Wednesday each class hosted a visitor who talked with us about their favourite places, favourite books and favourite hobby. After the visits we all made finishing touches to our writing and each class put their own collection of writing together. The staff in school have also written about their favourite places and put these together as a booklet.
Between 11 o’clock and 12 o’clock today the whole school fell silent as we swapped, shared and read each other’s writing. Our Primary 7 pupils visited the Primary 1 to read them their ‘My Favourite Place’ stories.
