Inspired by the Team GB ‘Get Set for Rio’ challenge, Primary 7/6 started regular running in September to try to cover the distance of 9450 km from Tarbert to Rio de Janeiro before the Olympic Games start there this summer.
With such a long distance to cover, we called in the help of staff, the Primary 4/5/6 class and the pupils of Clachan and Skipness primaries. It became a real Tarbert community effort when the members of Tarbert Jog Scotland also joined in and posted their weekly running distances!
Recent good weather meant we could vary the running routes. Running up the hill to the viewpoint above the castle was a great morning challenge and we think the view from there is every bit as good as the view from the Corcovado Mountain looking over Rio!
Thanks to everyone who helped us reach our target. Where will we run to next?
(Photos show the P4-7 classes at the viewpoint after a run, and Alexander McLean, P7, celebrating reaching our target.)
Well Done everyone! So glad we made it before The Games start. 🙂
