The P1 children were so excited to welcome Grannies and Grandas to their classrooms for a wonderful Tea Party this afternoon as part of their ‘Katie Morag’ topic.
Over 50 Grandparents were treated to some fabulous singing of well known Scottish Songs, including Ally Bally, Katie Bairdie and Ma Maw’s a Millionaire.
After this the Grannies and Grandas were served porridgies, tea and coffee. The porridgies were made by the children using a Katie Morag recipe and looked a bit like flapjacks. There were lots of “Mmmm, delicious!” comments as they were all eaten up.
The children were very proud to show off all the things they have learned from this topic, which was based around life on a Scottish Island. They have worked so hard, and lots of impressive artwork was on display on the walls of the classroom for Grannies and Grandas to admire.
Finally, the Tea Party was finished off with a magnificent parade of Easter Bonnets and a big round of applause.
