Hostel’s Got Talent 2013

Dunoon School Hostel hosted a 2013 ‘Battle of the Bands’ Talent Show Night on Wednesday 27th November. Presenters Struan & Ross who proved an Ant & Dec style type of presenting with confident very funny humour all the way through the show. The night began with a Staff band ‘Abba’ who sang a medley of Abba favourites!
The band – Elaine W, Roma, Stuart A (Guitar) and Willie H (Keyboard) proved a dazzling, professional and enthusiastic beginning to the nights show. J S Machine, Jade (singer) and Scott (Guitar) led the way with another super talented entertaining act! Third up was Dean Hammond on the pipes, providing a terrific medley to which the whole audience clapped and got into the swing of the evening. Fourth was Blue, Nathan,Patrick and Brandon who performed an amusing and incredible performance of the band. Fifth was another staff act, The Spice Girls, (Lorna, Elaine M, Fiona, Debbie, and Mhairi who performed a well rehearsed super version of their own ‘Wannabee’. Sixth was ‘The Proclaimers’- Connor and Scott, this duo provided a brilliant confident version of ‘ Im Gonna Be (500miles)’.

A Surprise act by the presenters (Struan and Ross)and Jack who brought the house down with their hilarious rendition act and who were very deserving winners of the show! Well done boys! The Three Robbies were the eighth and last act of the night. Not to be outdone by the other staff acts, Robert McN, Andy and Ian provided a very entertaining version of ‘Let me Entertain You. The hardworking kitchen staff made a delicious ‘Battle of the Bands’ cake and the pupils were treated to some Scottish Fayre! What a night!

    Many thanks to events coordinator, Roma Johnston and especially big thanks to the hostess with the mostess, Mary Peek, who was the driving force behind this β€˜Battle of the Bands’ event putting in so much time and hard work. Thanks to Dunoon Grammar School and Dunoon Primary School for giving, stage, lights, speakers, P.A. system plus other essential equipment.

    Thanks to all the young people and staff who put in so much energy and effort into their acts, well done! A brilliant night to remember.

  5. Well Done everybody at the hostel! Looks a super night. Lots of talented children and staff. Roma now you know what I have to put up with every day! Ha Ha only kidding well done Mary!
