Tobermory High School Fundraising Breakfast for Typhoon Haiyan

Moved by the images of Typhoon Haiyan, pupils and staff at Tobermory High School swung into action to organise a fundraising breakfast. Our event on Wednesday raised over £600 for the Disasters Emergency Committee Philippines appeal. Pupils from P1- S6 got together in the canteen to share bacon rolls, and the canteen made a cauldron of delicious porridge. The Traditional Music group provided a rousing accompaniment to the event, and there were games to take part in.

Pupils enjoyed finding hidden treasure on the Treasure Map, and guessing the number of sweeties in the jar. S6 had made friendship bracelets with beads in the colours of the flag of the Philippines, and these quickly sold out. Everybody brought in their loose change and teams of primary and secondary pupils helped to arrange them to make a mile of coins around the gym.
Later in the day pupils sold tea and cakes at Parents’ Evening.
We’d like to thank everybody who donated money, time and materials. This was a really memorable day, and a great team effort by everyone involved.
