Museum of Scottish Scientists

P45 have been researching famous Scottish scientists from the past and creating power points about them. We have lots of famous scientists and engineers who have helped to change the world we live in for the better. We have even made a virtual museum you can visit to find out more about them. Visit the My Museum Glow page to find out more.

National Museum of Scotland Glow Meet

We had a Glow Meet on the 28th January down at Miss Macrae’s class room. We where talking to all sorts of workers that work there in the National Museum of Scotland; they were Designers, Exhibition Officer, Curator and a Conservator. The Designer designs everything that involves stuff like pictures. The Exhibition Officer needs to make sure that they only have 25 words or less on the tag and they need to make sure that they is a lot of facts. The Exhibits can be all the same or they can be all different things. A Curator is someone who looks after all the old things that goes in the Museum. You can find things if your on a walk on the beech or the woods or any other places that you might find some things. I thought the meet was very good because I got to learn all the different jobs there are in running a museum.

The World War 1 Medals

We are doing a history topic and we are trying to make our own museum and I brought in some medals from the War. They belonged to a man named Charlie Baum who was in the ambulance association and was killed while going to pick up a body. He got the medals for being part of the War and saving people’s lives. My Grandad got the medals sent to him as he was a relative. He even got parts of Charlie Baum’s clothing and other things.

My Dancing

When I was 5 I started highland dancing and I am still dancing now. My mum and dad even my little sister Natalie supports me very well, even if I don’t win any they always say to me I did my very best and I will get one next time and I am a winner to them. Eilidh and Katie dance with me too and they are great dancers and they support me and we support them. In 2008 I had entered Cowal games and at the end I got my results and I won the runner up trophy, I was jumping for joy when I found out. In 2009 I entered the Dunoon competition and I won the national trophy and I was incredibly pleased with myself and my dancing teacher that helped me with my dancing. I have loads of different medals from 1st to 5th and a mini shield for my dancing exams.I hope this year I will be very successful and I hope Eilidh and Katie will too.

Museum of Islay Life

We went to the Museum of Islay Life on Tuesday 18th January. Primary 6 and 7 came with us. After that we went to the waterworks at Torra.
We got on the bus and went to Port Mor. We met Mr Reavey. He told us what the oldest house on Islay was. Then we went to the museum. When we got inside it had lots of tools and dresses with beds. My favourite exhibit was a wheel chair because they got to push old people on it. The wheel chair had a steering wheel and a rug on top of the seat. The rug was made at the Islay Woolen Mill during World War 2.
Then we went to the waterworks at Torra. Two people showed us around. They told us about how the water gets cleaned. First it was brown, then it was white, then it got really clear.
I liked going to the museum as it had lots of cool things inside. The water works had lots of pipes with water going through them and was really interesting.

My Christmas Day 2010

On Christmas Eve I was very excited for Christmas day. I hoped I would get lots of nice things. I was looking forward to opening my presents but Christmas day nearly ended in disaster!
I woke up and went through to my big brother’s room on Christmas morning and me and Liam went downstairs. I felt very excited.
On Christmas morning I had lots of presents. I got an Ipod Touch, a fashion set, lots of sweeties and lots more. After I opened all of my presents I had breakfast, mini bagels.
I went to my dad’s at lunch time and I got a motorbike. We went to our Nanny Kay for Christmas dinner but my mum dropped our cheesecake and it went all over Jack! What a disaster! It was very funny.
it was the best Christmas ever because I got everything I wanted and it was very funny when mum dropped the cheesecake. It was a calm Christmas.
