P6 ‘explore’ Europe!

P6 have been enjoying our new Europe topic! We are currently in the process of planning and writing our own ‘TV travel show’ in groups! Through the use of ICT we aim to produce an exciting show that teaches our friends about different countries in Europe! Many of us worked very hard on our homework research for our country and made some wonderful contributions to the task.
We would also like to say a huge ‘well done’ to Sean, Edan, Yasmin, Gregg and our ‘stand by’ Adam T for their dedication and hard work with preparations for the Euroquiz. We came 7th out of 19 schools from West Lothian!
In maths, we will be learning more about ‘division’, ‘time’ and ‘area and perimeter’ in the coming weeks. Of course, it goes without saying, that we should be practising our times tables every night as this is so important in ensuring we can move on with our number work and progress with our dividing and fractions! Well done to those of you who are practising; it most certainly shows during your maths activities!

P1 explore colour and line

image

Primary 1 explored line, colour and movement in art this week. We focussed on creating lots of different lines, ‘zig-zag’, ‘wavy’, ‘bouncy’ and many more! We had lots of fun using the lines to create movement and smudging chalk for colour in our rockets and cars artwork!

Superheroes in P5

Superheroes have arrived in Primary 5! We are using the story-line approach in this topic. We started with a letter from Not-So-Super-Stan asking for our help. So far, we have been helping him to understand how a Superhero gets their powers, by designing fact files and comic strips.

What’s happening in Primary 3

For the past couple of weeks we have been very lucky to have had a Tennis Coach in for our PE lessons on a Tuesday.  Iain has been playing some super fun games with us and we have been learning some fantastic new skills.

We have just begun our new topic on The Romans.  We have come up with some wonderful questions we would like to be answered during our topic and some fantastic ideas for activities that will help us learn.  We have started looking at Timelines and will also be learning to extract key information from non-fiction sources and make notes in our own words.  This will help us with a Roman research task where we will be creating our own Roman factfile.

In Maths we are continuing to learn about giving and following directions and are developing our use of Maths vocabulary.

In RME, we are exploring Christian Bible stories and the values that they teach.  We started with Joseph and his Brothers and learned about forgiveness and jealousy.

We recently spent time with Mrs Black and Mr Taylor to develop a new action plan for our classes.  We will be working with our teachers to implement our ideas and meet our class targets for learning.

Enjoy your holiday weekend!

People who help us

We have had some exciting visitors to our nursery. All of our visitors were ‘people who help us’. We had a nurse, doctor and some firefighters. They told us about the jobs they need to do every day and ways that they help people. We have also had visits from some of our mummies with new babies as our family are also important people who help us. We decided to split our role play area into a hairdressers and a car garage. Our outdoor house became a pizza restaurant, where we made our own pizzas and used the bikes for delivery.
