Deep Sea World with P2/1 and P2

What an exciting day we had at Deep Sea World.

We were able to show Mr Alexander how much we already knew about pollution. We loved the ‘Put it in the Bin’ Game. Touching the starfish was amazing! What was your Wow Word to describe what the starfish felt like?

We watched the seals being fed. Who knew seals were such acrobats? We learned about how seals kept in Deep Sea World are kept active and fit. A bit like us!

We went through the Shark Tunnel- ARRRRGGGHH!!!! We LOVED this. We saw some very brave divers in with the sharks too! It was great fun spotting all the different kinds of sea life.

Our last event was watching the piranhas being fed. We were fascinated to discover that the other fish waited for the King Piranha to take the first bite!

ECO Week, Baking and School Trip in P2/1 and P2

It’s ECO week and we went around the school and looked for different kinds of pollution. Oh my goodness! What a lot of pollution we saw! What can we do about all of it? We spoke about it in our classes and had some fabulous ideas! When you are out at the weekend, why not see how many different kinds of pollution you can spot!

We enjoyed being in the teepee for drama and music. It felt like being in a different world!

We loved all the wonderful animal costumes. We thought we were in the zoo today!

Mrs Logan has been making sandwiches with us. We planted cress a few weeks ago and watched it grow. We have now used this as a sandwich filling option along with tomatoes, eggs and cheese. Mmmmm, delicious! Why not make sandwiches for your family at the weekend? You can always take photos.

We are getting really excited about our trip to Deep Sea World next week! Please remember to return your lunch letter. Please do not bring any money as we will not be visiting the shop this time. There are lots of other exciting things planned!

P4 Outdoor Maths

In P4 we have been learning about fractions (1/2, 1/4, 1/5 and 1/10) of shapes and numbers. Today we took that learning outdoors and we played fraction games and worked with a group to make a picture showing tenths using found materials. We had lots of fun too!

We had great fun in the teepee! We had a discussion around “What would you do to help the environment in 5 minutes?” There were lots of interesting suggestions involving reducing litter, saving energy and looking after plants and animals. What would you do???

Primary 3 at Low Port

Despite the weather, we thoroughly enjoyed our overnight stay at the Low Port Centre in Linlithgow last week. On our arrival, we headed to Linlithgow Palace where we were met by the Primary 6 and 7 Palace Guides from Linlithgow Primary School. They did an excellent job showing us around the birthplace of Mary Queen of Scots.

We then walked round part of Linlithgow Loch on a scavenger hunt before heading back to Low Port to unpack.

After a delicious three course meal, Mr Brice taught us some games on the Peel. Our favourite game was Giants, Wizards and Trolls. Mr Brice’s demonstrations of the characters was particularly interesting!

It was then time for pyjamas, “Minions” and supper before retiring to our comfy beds. On Thursday, we had a scrumptious breakfast, before walking to the Canal Centre. We had a short trip along the canal, discovering the intriguing history and heritage of the Union Canal. After this, we headed to Annet House Museum where we enjoyed learning about Linlithgow’s history. After lunch, we got back on the bus and travelled to Beecraigs for fun activities and a climb up Cockleroi.

Low Port was an exciting experience and one that we will remember for a long time.

Rehearsals for the P4 show are in full swing! Parents and carers – please help us to learn our lines at home as we will soon be rehearsing without our scripts. We are busy singing, dancing, acting, learning to work the sound system and computer and designing and painting scenery. More information about hte show, including costumes, will come out by letter soon. Thanks!

This week it is “Eco Week” and today P4 took part in a litter pick to help tidy up the areas surrounding the school grounds. We collected quite a bit of rubbish! Please remember to put rubbish in the bins provided or take it home with you and keep our planet clean and green!
