As part of our Citizen 7 topic we have been developing our research and presenting skills! We worked together in groups to find out information about either Dictatorship or Democracy. We had to use what we found out to create a presentation. We presented these to other groups and brought together what we learned on a poster by listing 5 facts we learned from the presentations. We also evaluated how we thought our groups worked together. We are looking forward to learning more about the Scottish Parliament. We will keep you posted!

Taking Place Value outdoors!
P7 are working on Place Value in maths this term. We began today by exploring the place and value of digits in a number. We created grids on the playground using chunky chalk and in pairs rolled a dice to create numbers. We then discussed what number we had made and what value each digit had. This was a fun way to explore numbers and challenge ourselves by looking at numbers up to tens of millions! Take a look at some of our work!
Campaign fun in P7!
It has been a very busy few weeks back in P7! We began our journey towards deciding on our Head Boy and Girl and their deputies in the first week back and it has been quite a roller coaster ride since then.
It started with speech writing and thinking about our skills and qualities. Speeches were delivered and P7 voted. The top 5 girls and top 5 boys were decided. Campaign groups were then put together and it was time to write slogans, make posters and create jingles. Each group created a short video which was then shown at a whole school assembly and candidates were given the opportunity to deliver a speech. A whole school vote took place and all pupils from P1 to P7 and staff could vote for who they thought should be Head Boy and Girl. Votes were counted and the results were announced today.

Final WPS sports day for P7!
Yesterday P7 raced, jumped and golfed there way to sports day victory! In P7 we all took part in a big range of activities such as curling, racing and many more. This was our last Williamston sports day and we all enjoyed it and will thoroughly miss sports day at WPS. We don’t know what we’ll do without it and hope High School has such a fun filled day next summer!
We are back!
We’re back after exploring James Young High School. We have learnt so many new things like what our subjects are, who our teachers and buddies will be and our way round the building. We also met new friends and got to know the people in our tutor groups. Some of us were a bit anxious about getting lost but our buddies were very good at showing us the way round the different departments. On the Tuesday some of us were confident enough to stand up and speak about our experiences in front of all the S1 pupils! We are very proud of this. We are now even more excited about going to High School!
Dance workshops
We really enjoyed our dance workshop with Next Step Dance today. We had an opportunity to learn a fun hip hop dance routine which even included some free styling! We then got to create our own catwalk where we chose how we wanted to move or dance down the catwalk!
Cool Creatures is coming to P7!
We are really looking forward to Cool Creatures coming to P7 on Wednesday the 17th of June. We chose to spend the money we raised in our bake sale on this as it something we are interested in and ties in well with our science topic on living things. We will share photos and our experiences with you next week!
P7 induction days at JYHS
This is a little reminder for Primary 7s who are off to James Young High School for their induction days tomorrow and Wednesday. All pupils must arrive at school at 8.25am to walk down to JYHS with their class. All pupils must wear full school uniform and bring a packed lunch, a pencil case and PE kit.
It is going to be an exciting and busy week for the P7 pupils!
Chinese Art in P7a
Primary 7a have been working on some Chinese art. We have explored different types of art originating from China and have found out more about the artists through research. We have been working with different mediums such as pens, chalk, pastels and paint. These are a work in progress but are still looking amazing! Keep an eye out for our finished display of wonderful work!
Karate experience!
P7 had a fantastic time taking part in a Karate taster sessions. We had the opportunity to see what a typical warm up is like and even had the chance to try out some Karate moves ourselves. We really enjoyed playing the money game and were all amazed at how good our Karate instructor was at it! We were lucky enough to have a question and answer session with the coach, Hannah Wood and Kate Holligan who are part of the Elite Scottish squad for 16/17 and 18 Years+. They gave us some demonstrations and shared their experiences and achievements. They are a wonderful example of how hard work, dedication and commitment can pay off!
