Primary 1

This week as we are a Eco school it was our first turn at litter picking to keep our playground clean.

At outdoor learning we went on a bird scavenger hunt. We are learning to identify different birds and we had lots of fun doing this.

We are all enjoying writing ✍️ and have been doing this independently using free play time as well.

Primary 1 are becoming very confident at recognising, counting, making and writing numbers.

Have a lovely weekend.

ThelifeofTay!

What a beautiful week we have had! We have enjoyed the Autumn sun and time with our friends. We loved our water play time and have enjoyed the sand pit in the Outdoor Classroom too!

In class we have been taking a closer look at the initial sound ‘a’ and associated words and pictures. We have enjoyed using the lightboards to learn how to form the letter.

We have also loved playing with our new interactive alphabet sound mat! Great fun….It has a keyboard to too help us with our Music studies!

In our number work we have loved listening to songs involving counting to ten and learning how to sequence the numbers ourselves!

We have also loved sensory play…with flour, rice and pasta!!  Such fun making messy memories.

Taylor – our class mascot – continues his weekend holidays this weekend and we look forward to his news of his adventures on Monday morning!

Learning indoors and outdoors

This week in class we worked on the phonics sound v, exploring words that begin with and include the sound. In numeracy we focused on shapes, learning to recognise and name them. We enjoyed P.E. with Miss Lyndsay and Mrs McMasrer. We explored the  trim trail looking at flowers and the butterflies which helped us with building our confidence outdoors. We also spent time in the outdoor classroom, making the most of the fresh air to support our learning. To finish off, we had fun in music, listening, moving and joining in with rhythms.

Have a great weekend ☺️

Primary 1 in week 4

Wow another busy week in Primary 1.

in outdoor learning this week we worked with Miss Nelson to create clay snails. We talk about if we had saw them before, where we could find them and what they looked like before making our very own snails.

In number work we are focusing on forming our numbers as well as counting and making numbers. We have enjoyed playing lots of maths games.

We have been learning all about families, that all families are different and equally special. Everyone enjoyed talking about their own family and we made beautiful representations of our families for the class wall.

On Friday we made slime, this was lots of fun 🤩 We  decided that is would be a good place for some dinosaurs 🦕 to live.

Have a lovely weekend.

Lomond Class

Another quick week! We’re continuing our all about me topic. We’ve enjoyed outdoor learning, PE and visits to the outdoor class and the Trim trail. In class, we’ve especially enjoyed building with the giant Lego, playing in a ‘den’ made from blankets and spinning on the spin seat.

We’ve had fun whilst developing so many skills!

Please have a look at some photos of Lomond Class from this week…

Rannoch Class Explore, Build and Create

This week in Rannoch Class we have been busy developing our skills through lots of fun activities. Outdoors, we explored our environment and worked together in construction play, building with big blocks. We enjoyed making music through body percussion, learning to listen and copy sounds. With Play-Doh, we had a great time creating, moving, and working on our fine motor skills through play. The children have been engaged, active and building confidence while learning in different ways.

Primary 5 Round Up

This week in P5 we’ve been busy learning and building on our skills. In Literacy, we continued developing our reciprocal reading strategies, with a focus on predicting what might happen next in our stories. In Numeracy, we explored place value and patterns to strengthen our number knowledge. In Science, we linked the water cycle to real-life situations, thinking about how it affects our homes, crops, and the world around us. We also continued learning Spanish, building on greetings and classroom language. It’s been a great week of teamwork, learning, and fun!

A Fabulous Week in Ness

The new term is going very well in Ness Class. Everyone has settled in and the learning is progressing well.

This week, we have been reading together every day to improve our reading fluency.

Our number learning has been Place Value and some of us are very good at identifying number up to 1 million!

Science has been the highlight of our week, where we have explored Static Electricity- a hair raising experiment for most!

Some of our highlights are in the pictures below!

P5 Weekly Round Up

This week in P5 we were introduced to our new reading groups and began exploring the reciprocal reading skills that will help us become more confident readers.

In numeracy, we worked on place value, comparing and ordering numbers, and creating number patterns.

In science, we linked the water cycle to real life, thinking about how it impacts our homes, crops growing and the wider world.

In Spanish, we learned how to respond to ¿Cómo estás? with phrases like Estoy bien.

We revised our H&WB indicators this week and completed some group work on how we see the indicators in school.

We also enjoyed going outdoors with Ms. Nelson to take part in some fun challenges and work on our charter.

In art, we explored how to describe ourselves using pictures rather than words – a very creative task!

We finished off our door display and class charter that we worked on together

Stay tuned to see what we get up to next week.
