Primary 5

We have been really busy in Primary 5 since we came back from our February break!

We had Shrove Tuesday, also known as Pancake Day. We learned about the meaning of it and enjoyed some homemade pancakes with nutella, strawberry jam, lemon and sugar.

We had outdoor learning with Mr Lockhart and we have started working towards our John Muir Award, which is very exciting!

We learned about internet safety and how to keep ourselves safe when we are online. We made leaflets to share this information with our peers and Corra’s has been selected to be given to other classes. Big well done Corra!!

Our topic in class just now is Planet Earth. We chose our own groups or partners and, have been designing our own PowerPoint to present next week! Everyone has been putting in amazing effort with their presentations and I am so proud of the teamwork, digital skills, research and contributions that I have been seeing!

Great work P5!! Very well done, I am so proud of all of you!

Primary 5

We have had such a busy week in Primary 5, with lots of new beginnings!

It started off with discussing our new writing genre in literacy which is Information Reports, then we moved onto a new numeracy topic, Fractions. We all put lots of hard work into these new topics and are all doing really, really well!!

We have a ‘classroom door competition’ on Monday 6th of February so we spent some time designing our door that had to be based on our class novel. Currently we are reading Matilda by Roald Dahl and it is a big hit so far! All of the pupils came up with different ideas for our door, noted them on our whiteboard in class and got to work! The attention detail has been amazing from their own individual mini books to the ‘tinfoil’ nails on the chokey door! Big well done P5!!

Today was also our first Friday Mass in St Mary’s and Primary 5 lead our Mass. I am so proud of all of them for their efforts and participation. The theme was Happiness and it certainly made me smile seeing all of them taking part and working together as a team to do such a great job! The 6 pupils who spoke during the Mass all received a special ‘Star of the Week’ certificate for all their efforts learning their readings and doing so well this morning.

Massive well done to Skye for being our ‘Star of the Week’ this week for all her hard work in our numeracy lessons! Excellent work this week Skye, you should be very, very proud of yourself!!!

We have had some great achievements outside of the classroom to celebrate this week too! We have our own champion gymnast who shared some great photos with us all this week of her tumbling and performing at a very high height!! And we also have a published artist with a painting in a national book!! Very big high fives and well done for these achievements this week!!

I hope you all have a great weekend and I’ll see everyone on Monday!!

Primary 5

Our first full back in into the swing of Primary 5 and what a busy week it has been! Everyone has worked really, really hard this week and I am so proud of you all 🀩
Β
We have been working really hard on our numeracy, learning about Bar and Line Graphs. Everyone has put so much effort into learning more about this numeracy topic and the graphs that have been created look great!Β
Β
Our spelling and reading groups started up again this week! Everyone was given new reading books and hopefully, these have been out at home for reading practice. The best way to improve our reading skills is to read, read, read and our skills are coming along really well.Β
There was lots of fun had in PE doing Gymnastics with Mrs McMaster and, with Mrs Blair in RE we are going to ‘Make a Pound Grow’. This is part of our Religious Education Plan for this term, and we have decided that we will make our Lenten experiences positive by raising money for SCIAF (Scottish Catholic International Aid Fund).Β
Β
We have also been learning lots this week for our IDL topic, ‘Living on Earth’ and have been researching about the Oceans, its different habitats and creatures found in all different places under the water, including Coral Reefs, Kelp Forests, Seamoss Meadows and the Marina Trench!Β Β
Β
With it being Robert Burns’ birthday this coming week we were discussing his poems and writings, and also created a colourful display for our corridor.
Don’t forget Friday February 3rd, Primary 5 are leading the Mass with the theme being ‘Happiness.’ All are more than welcome to attend, to support us and participate in the service. We hope to see you there 😁
