Primary 2 enjoyed exploring the origins of wind and were very surprised to find out that it all begins with the sun. We looked at the importance of wind direction and created our own wind socks. Thank goodness there was a gentle breeze and they worked really well. Have a wonderful weekend. Stay warm. The children should be able to tell you that there will be a slight breeze on Saturday and clear skies but Sunday may bring some rain. Temperatures will be around 8 degrees which isn’t too bad but night time will be rather cold indeed!

P2 weekly update – 3.11.23
P2 have been doing a bit of work on their scissor skills this week. We’ve sorted hot and cold items as a warm up activity in health and wellbeing. We then visited Firefighter Fred’s Bonfire Safety workshop in preparation for the weekend.
We also created a fireworks collage using multicoloured cupcake cases. It was a careful and delicate task but the results were fantastic.
Have a great weekend everyone.

Happy Halloween from Primary 2!
Hello to you all and Happy Halloween weekend! P2 thoroughly enjoyed their party today and were throwing some fabulous moves on the dance floor. The costumes this year were of a very high standard and grown ups will be very busy tonight scrubbing face and glitter!
Apologies for the lack of photographs – they were extremely tricky to track down once the fun had begun!
Thank you P2 for such a lovely warm welcome to your class.
Have a lovely weekend.

Primary 2
We have been working on our class topic which is “People Who Help Us” and we have identified lots of people who help us in our community.
We discussed their roles and created our own collage models which we have displayed outside our classroom. We think they look fantastic!!
In Numeracy we have been working with a learning partner to use concrete materials and whole-part models to help us write number stories. We have been working very hard!
Last week in P2
Well were almost at the end of P2 and what a week we have had.
On Monday we walked all the way to morning mass in West Calder. We were very good and all listened very well. We then went to the park at the back of the community centre where we had snack and got soaked in the heavy rain but had great fun playing with our friends from P1. We then walked to the community garden and went around the stick man trail and enjoyed exploring the fairy garden.
On Tuesday we had our last session with Mr Lockhart. We enjoyed playing and our s’mores which were delicious.
Today we had our picnic. We made our own sandwiches and then enjoyed them in the trim trail and had a play.
Thank you for a fantastic year, I hope you all have a fantastic summer😊
P2 at Edinburgh Zoo
What a day we have had today!!
When we got to the zoo we took part in an interactive quiz where we were learning and guessing what animals were endangered.
We then had lunch in the shade by the penguins. We tried to get around as many animal enclosures as we could and seen most animals. Our favourite animals were the giraffes, pandas, flamingos, kangaroos, penguins, tigers, hippos and monkeys. We have loved our trip today and now want to go to the safari park!!
Water safety in P2
Folowing on from learning how to be safe in the sun last week, today we looked at how we can be safe in and around water. We thought about the different places we can find water and why we need to be safe even if we are just walking beside it. We discussed the different things that can be dangerous and what we can do to keep ourselves safe. We also thought about what we would do if we were or seen somone in trouble. We created some warning posters and tried on Miss Lawtons buoyancy aid.
Butterflies in P2
We have been enjoying watching our caterpillars grow and turn into butterflies. After waiting a while the have changed and look beautiful. Today we released them and some were very friendly and did not want to leave us.
We loved having our parents in today and hope you enjoyed doing sun safety with us.
