P6 Weekly Blog

Well done to Ciaran and James who were picked to recite their poems at the Scots assembly. Well done also to Dolce, Hollie, Liam and Eilidh who gave a super performance when performing ‘Strip the Willow’ with the P7 dancers. It was a super afternoon which we all enjoyed. We hope the senior citizens who attended enjoyed it as much as we did!

P1 Reflective Learning

This week Primary 1 have been learning about Robert Burns.

We drew portraits of him (which you can see in the picture) and wrote words and sentences about him.

We learned..

  • That he wrote poems and songs
  • We have a Burns Supper
  • We wear kilts at a Burns Supper
  • We eat haggis, neeps, tatties, oatcakes and cheese
  • Grown-ups drink whisky and they have a toast.

We are looking forward to our own Burns supper tomorrow!

Until later 🙂

Weekly Blog from P6

This week we have been learning poetry! We were studying the Green man poem and enjoyed making up our own poems. For homework we have been learning Scottish poems for our Scots Assembly.  We have also been learning and practising ‘Strip the Willow’ and we hope to perform this at the Scots Assembly. For our Scottish topic we have been learning about Lord Joseph Lister. We have been very busy since we came back from our holidays!

Primary 6

Everyone has been busy this week rehearsing for our Scots afternoon. I think you’ll agree it was worth all the hard work! Primary 6 poets were excellent and a special well done to Ellie Hamilton and Amy Barnett for their recitals of ‘Bingo’ and ‘Oor New School’ on the day.

Scot’s Afternoon

This week saw our very successful Scot’s afternoon for the senior citizens of Pumpherston and Uphall Station as well as many of our parents and grandparents.  The children all worked hard to learn a selection of Scot’s poems and a several traditional scot’s songs and P5 learned a dance, which they performed with great enthusiasm.  The afternoon was a great success and the audience appeared to enjoy it thoroughly.
