P6 Weekly Blog

This week we have been drawing pictures about all of the sports which will feature in the Commonwealth Games which will be held in Glasgow  in July.  We produced our best work and we hope some will be selected to appear in the athletes village. Next week we will put up some of our finished entries for you to see.

We started our football training with Greg from Broxburn United Football Club. He is helping us all to lead a healthy lifestyle by making sure we eat healthily and take regular excercise.  We were doing  sit ups and wall presses to improve our personal fitness.  We have been given fitness homework to help us improve our levels of fitness.

This Friday Eilidh, Jamie Lee and Niamh will be taking part in the gymnastics display which will be held at 11.45. Good luck girls!

Happy Hanukkah!

Menorah CandlesThree of our classes have been learning about the Jewish celebration of Hanukkah which takes place around the world this week. Primary 6 used the internet to find out about the story behind the celebration, with armies in battle and a very special bottle of oil.  They watched video clips of Hannukah celebrations and learned how to play the Driedel game.  A team from P6 then visited Primary 1 and Primary 1/2 to play the game with them and share their learning.  This game was first played to help the Jewish children learn their letters and sounds in secret. When we played it this week we learned new letters, practised our counting skills and showed what good sports we are when our friends won our tokens!

Primary 2

Last week the children designed and made games using magnets.  Pupils worked in groups to create their designs.  We will try them out this week to find out what the other groups think of them.

Primary 5 Assembly

Just a little reminder that the P5 assembly is next Thursday 28th of February. We do hope you can all make it! This week we have been learning new games for the playground: Red Rover, Mr Octopus and Bounce Tig.We are teaching the children from the other classes these games at playtime and lunchtimes. Thanks P5

Primary 5 – Playground Games

This week we were looking at every child’s right to play. We played two games, ‘What’s the time Mr Wolf?’ and Chocolate Bar. On Friday at break time we went to the other classes and showed them how to play these games. It was lots of fun and we are going to learn more games and teach other classes how to play them.
