P1 Reflective Learning

This week, P1 have been learning about labels.

First, we looked at fireworks on a video and looked at what shape they were, what colour they were and what noise they made.

Then, we went and drew our own fireworks on black card, making sure they were different shapes and colours. Then, we wrote a label next to our firework. We had words like BOOM, BANG, FIZZ and POP. We tried to write letters that we already knew.

Until next week…

P2 Sculptures

As promised in an earlier post here are some of the wonderful sculptures in the style of Andy Goldsworthy that the P2 children made from the materials they collected.  Enjoy!

Primary 2

The children have been using play scripts in drama.  We used The Gingerbread Man and the children had fun in role as the characters.   In science we learned about friction using cars and a variety of ramps and in art we explored sculpture.  We looked at the different materials that were used to make sculptures, what inspired the creations and got some ideas for our own creations.

This week is Health Week.  Please remember to bring outdoor and indoor gym kit as well as a bottle of water and healthy snacks.

Today we talked about all of the things we had learned this term and the things that we had enjoyed the most.  This term our favourite things have been:  the P4 Benchball Festival, tasting lots of different types of foods for our Food topic, using Sum Dog and maths games/challenges to help us learn different skills in maths, learning how to write different types of poems and creating art work in the style of different artists.   We also really enjoyed learning all about Easter with Mrs Hull.

We hope everybody has a lovely Easter holiday see you all soon.

Primary 2

This week we have been learning about the effects of gravity.  We have also been looking at Starry Night by Vincent van Gogh and drawing part of it using chalk pastels.

P2 enjoyed performing in the Scots afternoon this week.  Well done to Matthew M and Katie C who learned and recited their poems confidently to the audience.

The Highlights of Our Week

This week we enjoyed our Scots assembly and the particular stars were Lewis Taylor, Bruce Aitken, Lauryn Sandilands and Megan Stevenson. Thanks to our backroom staff!!!

We enjoyed our art lesson and produced excellent work in the style of Claude  Monet. We look forward to seeing the final product.

Our new class novel, “What If They Find Us” by Kathy Clark ,is about 2 refugees and is a gripping story which we are enjoying listening to it.
