Reading Passports

As part of the First Minister’s Reading Challenge and to celebrate Book Week Scotland, each pupil will be given their own reading passport to keep in school.

When a pupil reads a book, a page in the passport is filled out with the title, author, rating and a few sentences/pictures about the book.Ā  This is a great way for pupils to keep a record of what they have read, challenge themselves and to foster a love of reading.Ā  At the back of the passport, a chart can be stamped or signed when a book is completed.Ā  When their chart is completed they will receive a special certificate to recognise their achievement.

If your child reads a book at home, please write (or have your child write) the title and author of the book in their diary and sign it – this can be transferred to their chart and they can complete the page at school.

This week, remember to send in photographs of pupils and/or families reading in unusual places and these will be displayed and celebrated in school and at our assembly on Friday.

Thank you for your continued support.Ā  We look forward to hearing about all the books the children are reading.
