LI – We are learning to compare life in another country with our own.
SC – I can identify a number of similarities and differences from a typical school day, between China and Scotland.
This week we watched a BBC video on a typical school day in China. We took notes about their school day then used these to discuss how their school day was different from ours. We then went on to identify similarities and differences between our school day and one in China.
Similarities
In China and Scotland both schools did Literacy and Mathematics in the mornings. All pupils have to do Moral education which is similar to our RME. In both countries Art and PE is taught. In China they had very similar trays for lunch as we do.
Differences
In China they start their morning at 8.00 am with the national anthem and some marching. At break they had no free play but did exercises. At lunch they listened to a story or completed homework. They had around 50 pupils in each class.
