Primary 2/1

Primary 2/1 had fun this week at their Christmas party. We played musical statues, Christmas corners, musical bumps and danced to our favourite songs.

We had a break for some party food then went back to the hall to take part in Just Dance on the big screen.

We all had a great time.

Primary 2

This week with Mrs McConville the class explored colour, pattern and shape through looking at rainforest animals linked to our Climate change topic. They looked closely at the different details on each animal and tried to replicate their pattern as closely as possible.

We have also been busy completing lots of christmas activities, including our, christmas tree decorations and some christmas addition tasks in maths.

On Thursday afternoon we watched our first pantomime (Cinderella), and made magic wands to use during the show.

P6 Weekly Update

Over the past two weeks we have been learning Italian courtesy of Anastasia. She has been teaching us how to say basic greetings, months of the year and colours. We have loved getting to share our passion for languages as a class.

We have been learning about different types of angles this week. Miss Walkingshaw taught us about the different types of angles and how to use a protractor correctly to work them out. We also searched for angles within the classroom environment and symmetry using mirrors.

Miss Walkingshaw set us a challenge to re-create a scene from the movie, The Grinch Who Stole Christmas. We used oil pastels and different shading techniques to create the ‘Grinch Pinch’.

Have a lovely weekend!

P4 Learning

This week we have been writing a narrative about Billy the Bully, based on the story of George’s Marvellous Medicine by Roald Dahl.  We have also been working on using the fewest number of coins to make different amounts.  We watched the pantomime of Aladdin and today we made snowman tree decorations.  Here they are for you to have a look.

Primary 7 weekly update

A busy week again in P7. Lots of great learning was happening.

In Maths, we learned how to measure angles using a protractor.  We found this a challenge, especially trying to decide which side of scale to use for each angle. Mrs Andison was impressed at our perseverance and how accurate we were.

In Technology, we learned how to make 3d pop-up cards. We  designed our own card, make a mockup of it and, once we were happy it would work, we then made our final card.

In IDL, we have finalised our PowerPoint presentations on discrimination. We will be presenting these to our peers . It will be great to see what aspects each of us have researched.

We are looking forward to the week ahead and to our Christmas party.

Have a great week everyone.

From Primary 7 and Mrs Andison

Primary 1

Primary 1 have been learning how to write Christmas cards. We have written and decorated our own  cards for our families which will be ready to take home next week.

We also have a new post box at our free writing table and have been having fun creating and posting our own Christmas cards and letters.

Primary 2/1

This week we have been busy with Christmas crafts. The children have made their own Christmas place mats which they will bring home. We have also been busy practising for The Nativity.

Primary 3

This week, our ‘Supermarket Sweep’ topic continued by looking at Advent. We discussed why we thought Advent was celebrated and why we might use Advent calendars.

We also explored the concept of a ‘reverse’ Advent calender, promoted by the West Lothian Food Bank. Instead of taking an item out every day,  people are encouraged to put a food item into a box each day. The items are then collected and given to families who are in need of a little extra help at Christmas time. You can find out more about West Lothian Food Bank and their Advent appeal using the link below:

https://westlothian.foodbank.org.uk/2021/10/29/advent21/

We created our own ‘reverse’ Advent calendar in pairs, using items we might find at Marks & Spencer (including Percy Pigs, of course!).  You can see some of our work below. #responsiblecitizens

Check in with us again next week!
Miss M & Primary 3 🙂

Primary 2

Primary 2 have been working hard with Mrs McConville learning about shapes. This week they have been successful learners by looking at 3 different pieces of artwork by Wassily Kandinsky, who is thought to be the  first abstract artist using only colours and shapes in his work.  They looked at his painting ‘squares with concencentric circles’ and used this as inspiration for their own artwork. They created christmas trees with concentric baubles and they look fantastic.

In numeracy we have been practising our addition and have been using our rekenreks to help us count. We have worked together as a whole class using a digital rekenrek, and have also worked in pairs to use them at our tables to help us complete our maths workbooks.
