This week in P5 we have been researching how earthquakes happen. Carry out some research at home to find out other countries which have had earthquakes recently and compare the damage caused in these countries with the damage caused by the Haiti earthquake.

Quick Choir on Tour
Here are the Quick Choirs who were singing this week at St John’s hospital and Dobbies Garden Centre, Livingston. We had a great time and we hope to hear soon how much was raised for the Friends of St John’s charity. Well done to all our singers, you were a credit to the school.
Thank you to Horsburgh Buses for the transport and to Santa for joining in at Dobbies!
Primary 7 Islands
Can you make a list of Carribean islands? Now put them in alphabetical order and tell us which comes 5th!
Winter Ready
Notification of any disruption to school provision, including before school starts or while the school day is running, will be transmitted to parents through the Groupcall text messaging system. It is essential that we have up to date contact details for all children – please ensure that you contact the school office if your child’s information needs to be updated. WLC will also provide information via announcements on local radio stations such as Forth One and Real Radio. Social media websites may also be used by WLC. Continue reading “Winter Ready”

The First Minister, Alex Salmond Opens our new school!
We have moved!
Finally after many years of anticipation we are in our new school building. It is very bright and seems very, very big compared to our previous home. I have to say though, that the wait was well worth it. The children are super excited to have so much space as each classroom has a breakout area where they can work quietly in small groups and a very big playground that is much easier to monitor. The children love the decking and being able to bring each class into their own cloakroom will prevent so many problems of missing coats and crowded corridors.
We took a photo of everyone on the last day in the old school and another one on Wednesday 22nd March outside the new school. This week sees our official opening and by the time the parent/teacher meetings come around in March it will look and feel like a ‘real’ school.
The Big Pedal
Now that we are in our new school, we’d like to encourage each other to cycle or scoot to school – there are lots of spaces to lock up your bike or scooter at the main entrance. We’ll be logging how many scoots and cycle journeys are made on 3 special days in March to take part in The Big Pedal. See Mrs Hull for details.
