Primary 2

We went into the woodland beside our school to collect leaves, twigs and small stones to make a picture using natural resources found in our local environment.

P2 were very disappointed at the amount of dog mess left in a place they use for learning.  They would like everyone to remember to pick up after their pets.

We also checked the orchard for Mrs Hull to make sure there was no litter.

P7

Last week P7 realised they had a hidden talent for orienteering! We went to Lowport for the morning and worked extremely hard in pairs. It was really fun, even though it was a really cold morning!

P6 weekly blog

This week we took part in the Rights Respecting Schools whole school assembly. The right we had been learning about was ‘ we all have the right be the best you can be and be proud of ourselves’. We showed what we had been learning through a drama, a powerpoint and posters.

P1/2 reflective learning

This week we have been busy learning about electricity and what we need it for.  We made posters by cutting out pictures of things we know need electricity to work.  We had great fun cutting and sticking things on.  Next we are going to learn about how to stay safe when using electical items.

Home link – can you all remeber to switch off lights, TVs and games when you are not using them. We are trying to remember to do this in class.

P1 Reflective Learning

This week, P1 have been learning about labels.

First, we looked at fireworks on a video and looked at what shape they were, what colour they were and what noise they made.

Then, we went and drew our own fireworks on black card, making sure they were different shapes and colours. Then, we wrote a label next to our firework. We had words like BOOM, BANG, FIZZ and POP. We tried to write letters that we already knew.

Until next week…

P1 🙂

Primary 2

We have just come back from our assembly about children’s rights.  We learned that all children need food, and have the right to enough good food.  Some children do not have lots of different food like we have.  We listened to stories about children who had little food and talked about how that would make us feel.  Children in different places have different types of food.  We learned about these and put them on our map of the world.  We made a graph of our favourite foods and wrote about them.

How would you feel if you could not have your favourite food to eat?

P3

Primary 3 made and took home their time capsules this week.  They are going to bury it so future generations can discover what life was like for us in 2013. Our capsule included a letter explaining what life was like for a child in 2013  and pictures of  the current popular fashion, sweets, music and toys.

P1 Rights Work

Want or need? This is what Primary 1 and Primary 1/2 have been thinking about this week!

Ted has decided to move to a new land and we had to work in groups to decide the five most important things he would need to take with him.

We understood that there are things we need to live and there are others which would be nice to have, but we could live without them. However, one confused us…

So we challenge you.. A toothbrush – want or need?

Good luck!

Primary 1 and Primary 1/2 🙂

Primary 4’s Celtic Feast

To celebrate the end of our topic on the Celts, Primary 4 had their very own Celtic feast in the classroom.

During this term, we learned that the Celts had to get all of their food from the land by growing crops, picking wild berries or hunting for wild animals like boar and foxes. Unfortunately Miss Cave couldn’t find any wild boar at supermarket but we enjoyed eating  porridge, oatcakes and cheese together instead.  We also tried some nettle tea as the Celts would often collect wild plants and herbs too.

P7 Blog 18th October

This week p7 went on a trip to the National Archives of Scotland (it’s not a library!) and we done drama, art and investigating about WW1. We wrote a diary entry about Albert from war horse you might be familiar with the movie or the book, we also put the writing into coffee and then into our scrapbook we all have our own page in the scrapbook!

We have done lots of art things in class like :

Soldiers – blending using pastels and tissue paper.

Our p7 scrap book – about WW1 with pop out information, once we are finished it will be put in the public library so you can come and see them.

We have also been busy getting all our work finished for the October holidays. For maths everyone has been doing division because everyone was a bit rusty on it!
