P7 represent our school

On the 28th of August we attended a service to commemorate the centenary of the Great War. The service was at St Michael’s Church in Linlithgow.  The service was about remembering those who lost fought or lost their lives in World War 1. We really enjoyed the service and it brought back very touching moments.

P5 Weekly Blog

P5 have enjoyed getting back to school and are trying very hard to be a quality class.  We have elected new class reps: Shannon and Rory are our Eco reps. The Rights Respecting School reps are Katie and Sophie M. Our Pupil Council rep is Donatella and our Magale Rep is Ella.

We worked together to create our Class Charter and we have been reminding ourselves of the school rules. We have been using a lot of different things to help us remember them, eg  talking about them in groups, writing stories about the rules and performing dramas about them.

We have also enjoyed learning lots of new games in gym eg kick rounders, Danish rounders and the soft ball challenge.

We are looking forward to the many challenges P5 will bring!

P7

This weeks Friday Maths Champion was Ciaran.  Well done Ciaran!

Our ‘Smart Uniform’ awards went to Dolce and Molly yesterday.  Very hard decision as P7 are looking so smart this year!

I have gathered in all the P7 application forms for wet playtime monitors.  Decisions on who the jobs will go to will be announced soon.

Have a good weekend

Miss McLennan 🙂

Showing our school values to the world

At Assembly this week we were delighted to hear about the fundraising Cerys and Nia had done for our partner school in Magale. The girls worked with their family and organised a coffee morning at their grandma’s house last weekend.  They served tea and coffee, held a raffle, sold home baking and made loom bands for sale.  The total raised was over £400! Wow!  We added on the money already raised here in school last term and presented the cheque to Mrs Comrie after assembly.

The girls present a cheque to Mrs Crosbie

We were also treated to a slideshow presented by Molly, about her exciting trip to Malawi this summer with the charity Mary’s Meals.  This charity encourages children to go to school by making sure there is a meal for them to eat there during the day.  Molly took donations of toys and gifts, and met lots of new friends in Malawi.  She also got the chance to try the meal, called Pala, with the children, and she said it tasted a bit like porridge- but even worse!

Closer to home, we heard how Freya was a good and kind friend to Lauren when Lauren fell off her bike on her way back from school. Well done Freya.  We’re glad to see your leg is feeling better now Lauren.

These girls are great examples of our school values, showing respect and consideration for other people.

Have you seen any other good examples you would share with the world?

Sum Dog School Code

If your class is using Sum Dog (http://www.sumdog.com) then your teacher will give you your username and password. This will let you use Sum Dog in school. If you want to use Sum Dog out of school you will also need to use our school code. Our school code is:

pumpherston-and-uphall-station

If you highlight this code and then copy and paste onto the Sum Dog log in page then you will be able to get logged in at home.

Happy Learning!

Miss Anderson 🙂

The New Primary 7

Primary 7 walked into school on Tuesday looking extremely smart in their new uniforms.  They have already taken on some of their new responsibilities around the school with great confidence.

Maths

Liam is Maths Champion for this week.

The Purple group were learning to add decimals and they all feel confident about doing this.

The Green group were working on adding several numbers together using different strategies. They are confident about this skill and getting better at explaining their methods.

In the Orange group they were practising to work with negative numbers linked to temperature.  They feel confident about this too.

Writing

In writing today P7 were learning to write an application form to be a wet playtime monitor.  We filled in a real form for the job and hope we are successful in our first choice of class. This is a very important skill to have for when we are applying for a job, college or university.

School Rules

We looked closely at the school rule ‘We work hard and let others learn’.  We illustrated how this rule looks in our school and thought about what might happen if it didn’t exist.
