Primary 3

As part of our Scots focus, Primary 3 have been finding out about traditional Scottish crafts. We researched the history of tartan and then made our own tartan design. We have also been having fun learning how to knit!

P5 Weekly Blog

We have all returned well rested from our break and we are ready to get on with lots of hard work in term 3!

We are starting off our term with our usual Scottish focus. We will be using the Internet to research and write a report about Charles Rennie MacIntosh.  We will also be looking at his art work and try to produce work in his style.  We will also be learning Scottish poems for our Scots assembly! Two people from the class will be chosen to recite the poems at the assembly!

Happy New Year from Primary 3!

Primary 3 are excited to be back for the new term. We have been talking about different New Year traditions this week and have decided on our New Year resolutions for 2015. Here are some of our resolutions:

Kamila:  “My resolution is to try and keep my bedroom tidy.”

Erin T: “I want to get better at riding my bike.”

Ceira:  “My resolution is to get my work finished on time.”

P1/2

Happy New Year to you all.  We have all had a great holiday and are looking forward to new learning now that we are in a new year.  We are looking forward to learning new ways to paint(Renee,Lilly), counting on to add numbers together(Abbie), learning new things in maths as we love it(Mischa), learning new sounds(Junior) and our Scottish poems and songs(Zayah,Aleisha).  Sounds like we are going to have a very busy term.

Scots Homework for P6 and P7

Mr Eagleson has set special homework for Primary 6 and 7 pupils. This homework is to find out what the Scots words in Auld Lang Syne mean in English. Some of the words are trickier because they are rarely used these days.

Good luck (or should that be guid luck!).

Hatty Christmas!!

Here are some of the amazing hats produced by our children for their Christmas homework.

Well done everyone we are blown away by the fantastic range of designs and the artistic skills you’ve shown!

A hat parade will be part of our Christmas singalong on Tuesday morning at 9.30.

Primary 6 – It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas…

What a week! It has been another busy old week in Primary 6. Here are a few of the things that we have been learning about.

Maths/Modern Languages

We have been busy collecting information about attitudes towards Modern Languages learning. We have collected answers from all classes and are still busy putting this information into spreadsheets so that we can make graphs. The reason that we are collecting this information is so that we can apply for money to buy iPads, which would be used to enhance learning in Modern Languages. We really hope that the information we collect is good enough!

Christmas Party!

We had a brilliant time at the upper school Christmas party – lots of dancing, games and winners. Special thanks go to Miss Heatherill for purchasing refreshments, Mrs Ross for purchasing biscuits, our fantastic team of Pupil Support Workers for laying out the feast, P4-7 teachers and to Mr Eagleson for organising. All pupils were well behaved and smiling!

Golden Time Treat

It was the Golden Time treat this week – most of the class really enjoyed watching Nativity 2 – thanks to Miss Baillie for organising this treat for us. Those of us who didn’t make it will be trying extra hard to keep all our Golden Time next term.

Writing

This week we were inspired by a lego image. We used this image to type stories straight onto Glow.

If you want to write a story inspired by this image you can log into Glow and go to this link to share a story or your own.

Miss Anderson and P6

Primary 1/2

Well it has been a very busy week for us.  We had our Nativity dress rehearsal in front of the school on Tuesday and then our performance for our family and friends on Wednesday.  We were all stars!  We were a little nervous at first but put on a fantastic show for everyone.  We enjoyed it so much we we wanted to do it again.  We are all looking forward to our party next Monday and to wearing our Christmas hats on Tuesday at the sing-a-long.  Mrs Andison is looking forward to seeing everyone’s hats as the ones that have come in so far are fantastic.  We are also looking forward to a special visitor next week – hopefully bringing presents when he visits.

Have a Fantastic Christmas everyone!!!

We’ll see you all in the new year.

Some Primary 7 Reflections from last week…

Sorry it’s late P7.  Miss McLennan has ‘Christmas brain’ …

“This week I learnt about Christmas history with Mrs Hull.  Mary wears blue.  In P.E I was playing football to remember the WW1 Christmas Truce”.

In Expressive Arts I was making a winter scene and I enjoyed it a lot as I got to let my artistic skills out”.

“In P.E we had a football tournament to remember the Christmas Truce.  Two of the subjects crossed over.  They are P.E and Social Studies (History)”.

“In Maths we have been learning about the perimeter.  This has a real life link to building”.

“We had our football Truce match and I’m getting better at scoring goals”.

“In topic we are making maps to show where our group attractions are in Edinburgh”.

“In music it was Lauryn’s last week so we were shown how to set everything up independently”.

Christmas Card winners!

Primary 1-7 took part in a recent competition to design Christmas cards to be used by Pumpherston Community Council this Christmas. The entries were judged by a panel of Community council members and we are now proud to be able to show you the winners!   Each prize winner has a copy of their printed design, and received a Christmas treat from the Community council as a prize.
