Primary 4 working together

Primary 4 have been working very hard in groups and today we demonstrated how much we can get done when we work as a group.  The children had limited time to complete their posters and they had to work together and focus on the task if they wanted to complete it.

Unfortunately there were a few people absent today but all the children have been involved in this task.  They have done some fabulous research and have displayed their information in the form of posters.  Well done P4.

P6 Class Trip – Jacobites in Edinburgh

P6 had a great time on their class trip to Edinburgh this week. They learnt lots about what life as a Jacobite would have been like and even created their own Jacobite shelters. All the children behaved really well and were congratulated on this by the trip leader. Mrs Cullum was very proud of how they represented the school, both in their behaviour and in how they demonstrated their learning. Well done P6!

Please complete the Parent Council’s short survey

PUSCPS Parent Council Logo

Hello parents / carers.
Members of the Parent Council (PC) are currently considering how we can improve the effectiveness and impact of the PC. We recognise that there is much that can be achieved when we work together with the school and parents, and we want to build on this. To do this, we need a clear work plan and to create opportunities for, and support parent involvement. So, we’ve put together a questionnaire to gather your views – which we hope will give us some direction and a sense of how parents would like to be involved. It should take no more than 5 minutes to complete.  You can access the survey here: https://www.surveymonkey.co.uk/r/PUCPSParentSurvey
If you would prefer to receive a paper copy of the survey to complete, please request a copy via email.
Once we have received your answers, we’ll let you know the priorities we’ll be focussing on throughout the school year and the next steps for your chosen level of involvement.
Thank you in advance for completing the survey.
Best wishes from
“The Parent Council”

FANTASTICALLY Generous Foodbank Donations

WOW!  We are so proud of our communities for the huge amount of food that has been donated for the West Lothian foodbank.  These very generous donations show how warm and caring a pair of communities we have here in Pumpherston and Uphall Station.   Thank you.  We will be sharing this warm community spirit this afternoon at our Harvest Assembly – 2:15pm  – we look forward to seeing you there if you can make it.

P 2/ 3 Weekly Blog

As part of our topic we have been learning about ancient Egyptian gods and goddesses. We created a fact file about our chosen god or goddess. We had to write a fact about our god or goddess and draw a detailed picture of them. Here are some of our factfiles. How many Egyptian gods or goddesses do you know?

Thinking Back Looking Forward Pupil Profiles – P2-P7

Today pupils in P2 – P7 will bring home their THINKING BACK LOOKING FORWARD profile for this term.    This is a profile of what your child sees as their progress in learning so far this session and also includes a summary of the pupils’ current strengths and next steps from the class teacher.  Pupils in nursery and P1 will have learning to share through the Online Learning Journals system.

This is a new approach to reporting to parents for us this term and – as discussed in September’s newsletter – it forms a part of our FAMILIES LEARNING TOGETHER – SHARING LEARNING programme which we are developing this session.

We hope you find these new mid-year profiles more useful that the old-format final report in June.  Please bring your copy along to your appointment on Wednesday or Thursday evening and you can discuss it with the teacher then.   All pupils took home an appointment slip for parent appointments on Friday – if you don’t have yours – please call the office.
