Sunny weather

The warm dry spring we’re having is a fantastic boon to getting the pupils out learning and growing in the sun. Mrs Pender has the classes out for PE today.

All skin is different so if you think it is required, please make sure that  your child has sun-cream on when they come to school and perhaps put a bottle in their bag for a top up. Please note that WLC policy means that staff can not apply sun cream to children directly but will assist pupils with self-application if required.

We have a chick!

The eggs have arrived in P1. We’re all so excited to watch them hatch and grow over the next few weeks. One egg hatched this morning so stay tuned for developments.

P3 have green fingers!

P3 had a lovely time this afternoon in our school garden with Sarah-Jayne.  We learned about 8 vegetable families. Each family’s vegetables grow and produce seeds in different ways from other families.

We prepared the planting beds, planted seeds and made sure they had water. We used our writing skills to label what we planted.

Hopefully we can go out again soon to check on things!

P5 camp to Fordell Firs

Mr Eagleson visited the campers at Fordell Firs this afternoon, in fantastic weather. They were having a great time and really challenging themselves with climbing, abseiling and caving.

The pupils are due back to school at approx 2:15 tomorrow and can be collected then or at the end of the day at 3:15.

Primary 3

There has been lots of new learning in P3 this week.

An important and exciting letter arrived last week asking us to go off to learn magical ways at Hogwarts.  It arrived by Owl Post from our very own Max! We all have a special challenge to design our own wands for next Monday so we are ready.

In Maths, we have been focusing on addition and subtraction.  Some groups have been adding multiples of 10 to 2 digit numbers.  Other groups have been learning written strategies for addition and subtraction.

I wonder if any children in P3 could explain their maths learning to someone at home?

Measure!

We have been measuring length, weight and volume. We know lots of language for measure!

Outdoor Learning (P4-7)

A Miss McLaughlin post this time…

On Friday, both the upper and lower school trialled our new approach to Golden Time. Children were able to sign up to a particular activity and were in mixed groups to take part. It was lovely to spend time with some familiar faces! Below are photos from my Outdoor Learning group – we had a smashing day for den building and the teams were fantastic!

Looking forward to next week’s session already!

Until then…

Glorious Golden Time

This week we started our new system of golden time. Children signed up for their choice from a selection of activities on offer from all the teachers.  We had a great time in these smaller groups, learning and playing with friends and children from other classes on interesting activities.

Primary 1/2

This week, we have begun to practise for our assembly which will be all about the human body. We are looking forward to presenting what we’ve learned to the rest of the school and to our families next Friday.

In Maths this week, we have enjoyed exploring 3D shapes. We can sort them, say their names and talk about the different shapes of their faces.
