Primary 1

We have had another happy and settled week in class. We are becoming more independent and are now learning how to self-register in the morning. We all made a picture of ourselves for the wall and each morning, we move our picture down to let our teacher know we are here.
Depending on how we are feeling, we move our picture to a different mood monster (happy, sad, worried, tired or angry).  This lets Mrs Strachan know how we are feeling, so she can check in with us.

Primary 6 Update

Literacy (Class Novel)

This week in Primary 6 we have been getting used to our weekly routines. We have been introduced to our new class novel Wonder by R.J. Palacio where we were asked to predict what might happen.  This term we will be focusing on prediction where we will develop our skills in this area.

Topic – The Jacobites

We were introduced to our new topic for this term: The Jacobites. We shared what we knew already and what we want to learn so the topic can be shaped around our questions.

Primary 7

Primary 7 explored children’s rights and decided which ones would be relevant to include in our class charter.  They talked about Rights Holders and Duty Bearers and discussed how each of these would ensure that everyone’s rights were met.  Next, they suggested ideas for a theme for our class charter.  Aliens received the most votes.  Finally, pupils created their own alien images to show that they agreed with the class charter created.

We have been busy settling in to our new class, learning the school routines and getting to know our new teacher.
In class, we have spent time talking about how we can make our class a happy and safe place to learn and what our adults in school can do to help us.
Here are some photos of us busy in Primary 1 and of our Class Charter (Our Pinky Promise).

Primary 2&1

Primary 2&1 have been working on their class charter.

We learned a little about the rights that children have and listened to the story ‘Let’s Explore our Rights’.

We then linked these to our school values (Nurturing, Ambitious, Respectful) and made ‘promises’ that the adults/children could do to make sure our classroom is happy and safe. #responsiblecitizens

Have a look at our charter below:

Check in with us again soon to see what we have been up to!

Primary 3/2

In Primary 3/2 we have been learning about our rights. We completed a needs and wants activity which helped us to understand the things we need to survive. This then linked into our understanding about the rights of the child. We worked together to pick the rights we felt best suited our class and then displayed them as part of our class charter. Everyone created a beautiful butterfly to show how we are all unique.
