Primary 2/1

This week, Primary 2/1 will be issued with home readers.

Please check Seesaw regularly for details of home readers/any associated tasks. We would also love to know about any other reading at home, so feel free to share this on Seesaw!

Some children will be given a wordless book to bring home. The document attached explains a little more about wordless texts and includes questions/prompts to support you when exploring them with your child. We hope you find it useful!

P4 Junk Request for Thursday 26th October 2023

Next week (Thursday) the children will be making something exciting from junk!

Please could I ask for your support with donating any recycling you may have e.g. cardboard boxes, plastic bottles, kitchen rolls, clean yoghurt pots, plastic fruit trays etc. If you could send your children in with these on Wednesday or Thursday, I would be very grateful.

Primary 4 – October

 

Black History Month

We learned about Rosa Parks.
“She is significant because she refused to move off her seat for a white person when there were unfair laws to say she had to. She influenced change in her country to change laws” (Grace)

Writing
We were writing Autumn poems with a partner using Glow to type.

Maths
“We are learning to put numbers in the correct order. Sometimes from smallest to largest and sometimes from largest to smallest” (Kyle)

Primary 6 Weekly Update

There is now a home learning grid based upon on our class novel ‘Wonder’ by R.J. Palacio on our Primary 6 Microsoft Teams page. The children have been shown the grid and we discussed the activities.

This week we continued learning about significant individuals through Black History month. We explored the impact that Martin Luther King Jr had on the past and present day. We created our own dreams like he did which led into a piece of artwork from one of his iconic speeches.

 

Primary 3/2

We have had a very busy week in Primary 3/2, we started off our week learning about symmetry and all the different objects that have lines of symmetry in them. We then created our own symmetrical lady birds by finger painting one side then folding them in half to create the symmetrical pattern on the opposite side.

On Tuesday morning we tuned into the Authors Live event with Nadia Shireen. We listened to some excerpts from her book and then got the opportunity to draw along with her as she showed us how to draw some of the main characters from her book.

Our Fairytale focus this week has been The Three Little Pigs. On Friday we were split into three groups; paper, straw and bricks we then had to use those materials to create a house just like in the fairy tale.

Miss Mcgregor was very impressed with our creativity! Super job P3/2 🙂

Primary 2/1

Primary 2/1 have been busy this week with writing!

During reading sessions, we have been exploring ‘The Squirrels who Squabbled’ by Rachel Bright. Since we are learning about descriptive writing, we linked this to the story and created descriptions of Cyril the Squirrel. We have been working very hard on using the Description Bubble to structure our writing.

We also completed different play-based tasks linked to the story.

Maths Week Scotland


P4 took part in an outdoor symmetry challenge this week. They used natural material and loose parts to create symmetrical art. It was important that both sides of the chalk line were the same. Mrs McJimpsey was  also so pleased at how cooperatively we worked with our teams.  Next term, our next step in symmetry will be to create pictures with more than one line of symmetry.

Primary 6 Weekly Update

Maths Week Scotland

This week in Primary 6 we have been using digital technology to further enhance our learning of Information Handling. We created different types of graphs and simple pie charts to show our knowledge gained this term. We collected our own data based upon our own interests, collated our findings in a table which was then displayed in a way of our choosing.
