Primary 1 blog

Granny Scott emailed the school office to ask Primary 1 for their help. Granny wants to move to Pumpherston and asked us to design a house for her. We designed our house on paper first. The house had to have a roof and chimney, front door and 4 windows. We sent Granny our designs, then during our outdoor learning made our own house designs using construction.

Hello Parents/Carers!

Primary 2/1 will soon receive home learning bags containing letter sounds and a common word wall. Once Seesaw is up and running for all children, phonics home learning will be posted regularly.

The Sway below gives you information about phonics home learning and will go over some of the techniques that we use in school. If you have any questions or think of other ways that we can support you with learning at home, please let us know.

This week we continued our ‘Building Resilience’ work and discussions led us to talk about mistakes.

We watched the story ‘Beautiful Oops’ and learned about how mistakes can be turned into something special, maybe even better than what we had in mind! We then created our own ‘Oops’ and gave it to a partner. They then had to use our ‘Oops’ to create their own pictures. Have a look at some of the fantastic work below.

If you would like to listen to the story, you can use the link below:

Check in with us again soon to see what else we have been learning!

Primary 1 are learning to move around the hall safely in PE and are taking part in different activities that help with our balance and control.
On Wednesday, we had an Achievement Assembly. Ariya received an award for carefully drawing and talking about the people in her family and Hallie received an award for showing respect in class. Hallie has lovely manners and always remembers to say “please” and “thank you” when ordering her school lunch.

We have had another happy and settled week in class. We are becoming more independent and are now learning how to self-register in the morning. We all made a picture of ourselves for the wall and each morning, we move our picture down to let our teacher know we are here.
Depending on how we are feeling, we move our picture to a different mood monster (happy, sad, worried, tired or angry).  This lets Mrs Strachan know how we are feeling, so she can check in with us.
