Home Learning Choice Boards

At a recent parent partner meeting we discussed our current approaches to homework and the impact homework has on achievement and attainment. Following this we have decided to trial issuing a home learning choice board each term. The choice board is attached and a copy is in your child’s homework book. Their reading homework will sit alongside this and will be in your child’s reading record/ homework diary. We home you find this useful and will ask for feedback in term 4.

1 Plus 2 Languages Support

At Pumpherston and Uphall Station CPS, one of the priorities on our School Improvement Plan this session is the 1 Plus 2 modern languages agenda.

Children are taught French from Nursery to Primary 7. This year we want to extend this by introducing another language or culture in an informal way. Our Parent Partners thought that some families within our school and community could support us! If you can help us, for example a workshop with a class, a club or ongoing support, please fill out the form below.

Thanks in advance.

P7 Celebration Disco

We danced the night away at our Celebration Disco! The DJ played games and had us all dancing, he even had a foam machine and glow bracelets for us all.

Our Parent Partners created some Hawaiian themed treats and delivered our pizzas for us, a big thank you to them and to parents who donated some treats! Thank you to Uphall Station Gala Day for making a contribution towards the pizzas.

Surprise! Our surprise was an ice cream van and the response was, ‘But MIss Burton we have no money!’. Thank you to Pumpherston Community Council for paying for our ice creams and slushes. We loved this special treat.

We even had a Hawaiian themed cake! Thank you so much to Mrs Andison for baking it for us.

A huge thank you to everyone who contributed to organising our P7 Celebration Disco and to our teachers for coming along to celebrate with us.

Summer BBQ Cancelled

Unfortunately we have decided to cancel the summer BBQ on Wednesday 5th June, due to low ticket sales and the weather. We hope to reschedule in the new term.

Thank you to our parent partners, and sorry for any inconvenience caused.

Parent Partner AGM Tonight

A reminder that our Parent Partners Group will hold their AGM this evening at 6pm in the school. All parents and carers are welcome to attend. At the meeting we will go over the groups constitution and elect members, and positions for the next school year. Any parent or carer with a child at nursery or school can join the Parent Partners group at any time. As representatives of the parent forum we would ideally like to have members from all stages of the school so that we can develop and engage in activities which support the school in the education and welfare of all the pupils.

Summer BBQ

Come and join us for our summer fundraising BBQ. There will be rugby games with parent Mr. Black from 6:15 pm, adult and child tug of war competitions at 7pm, along with sensory games, a treasure hunt, crafts, music and party games. All food will be cooked on the barbeque by parent  Mr. Mellor, who is chef and there will be options for vegetarian and gluten free diets.
All food and games are included in the ticket price of £3 for an individual ticket or £10 for a family ticket. These can be purchased beforehand at the school office or on the day at the door. If the weather is not great, all the activities will be set up inside the school. Hopefully the sun will shine 😎
