Author Visit for P4-7: David Goutcher

As part of our World Book Day celebrations Primary 4-7 will take part in author visit on Tuesday 6th March. David Goutcher is the Scottish author and games developer of the children’s books, Spy Quest.

Children will have the opportunity to purchase a signed copy of his book for £6.99 payable by cash or cheque.

We did have a letter about this event about which was meant to go out to parents/ carers on Wednesday.

Don’t worry everyone – we will reschedule a date for you to come to school dressed as your character and let you know as soon as possible. The snow day will perhaps give you more time to think about your costume! We can’t wait to see them.

Assembly – Celebrating Our Uniqueness

Today at assembly we celebrated how we are all unique and that we should respect everyone for their uniqueness. We watched a video which made us think about we accept others for who they are.

Congratulations to Primary 3, who have completed their Fun Start Sessions with Broxburn United, and a big thank you to the team there for delivering the sessions.

A big well done to all our children this week who have been Living Our Values.

The House Points for the term so far are …

P6: Developing our writing skills

We are learning to use similes and alliteration when setting the scene.

Success criteria:

I can…. use ambitious vocabulary

I can…. use similes

I can…. use alliteration

I can…. use ambitious connectives.

First we looked at a variety of poems to see if we could see examples of similes and alliteration. Then we wrote our own examples of similes and alliteration. Then we applied these skills in our writing by setting the scene to our story about the beach.
