On Thursday 15th March we are holding our first Celebration Assembly to mark our achievements this term.
Teachers have nominated children for a STEM Superstar and Remarkable Reader Awards in each class, if your child is receiving one of these awards you should have received a special invite last week.
We will also be giving out Head Teachers Award, Sumdog Awards, Top Scorers and the House Winners, so please feel free to come along and and join us at 9:15am if you wish.

Today was our second session of Families Reading Together in our community library. Thank you to Moira, our librarian and our P7 Young Leaders for organising this. There is another session tomorrow after school, we look forward to seeing you then.
For our book masterclass pupils from P4-7joined together to look at Liz Pichon’s book “Tom Gates – Genius Ideas (Mostly)”.
We read an extract of the book together and discussed the style in which Liz writes her books. She uses lots of pictures (or doodles as Tom calls them) and changes her writing to show what the word means. These types of words are called calligrams.
We then set to work creating calligrams our own words. We were very quiet and concentrating extremely hard when we were completing this!
At the end we shared our calligrams with each other and gave each other feedback on what we had created. Have a look!
As part of our World Book Week celebrations, David Goutcher the author of the Spy Quest books shared his journey of becoming an author with P4-7. He shared his inspiring story of how ‘Positive understanding supports confident personal success’ and how it is important to persevere in order to achieve your dreams.
He amazed us by demonstrating how his Sky Quest books use augmented reality through an app to transform the reading experience.
Those children who wanted to purchase a book got a signed copy. We have bought some of these books for our P4-7 class libraries and we have a few signed copies at the office for those of you who would still like to purchase one, on a first come, first served basis (costing £6.99).
A big thank you to David for coming along to share his story with us, and also to Glowworm Books. Thank you also to Brodie’s mum for helping to organise this event.
