Primary 3

There has been lots of new learning in P3 this week.

An important and exciting letter arrived last week asking us to go off to learn magical ways at Hogwarts.  It arrived by Owl Post from our very own Max! We all have a special challenge to design our own wands for next Monday so we are ready.

In Maths, we have been focusing on addition and subtraction.  Some groups have been adding multiples of 10 to 2 digit numbers.  Other groups have been learning written strategies for addition and subtraction.

I wonder if any children in P3 could explain their maths learning to someone at home?

P3

This week P3 have been:

  • We have been designing our own islands on big bits of paper.  My island has houses and a farm. (Ellie Curran)
  • We played capture the flag in gym. I got a point for my team by running to the flag really fast.  Then I ran back to my team and I didn’t get caught! (Chloe)
  • We have been practising our class assembly for Friday 28th April at 9:15am. (Kai)
  • We did the brain busters challenge with the number 22!   I thought it was a spicy challenge! (Jessica)

Take a look at some of our newspaper reports about the film Madagascar.  Everyone enjoyed writing catchy headlines and tried hard to answer the when, where, who and what questions.

Achievements

One of our P3 boys has started participating in a Junior Park Run.  He has run the 2km circuit a few times now and he is loving it – and his time is improving. What a star!

In P4 one of our boys has achieved his first win at Ninja Racing Carts which he started last season.  He has been improving greatly and is very motivated.  What a champion.

Primary 3

Last week lots of us bet our best score in Big Maths Beat That!

We have been learning lots in our new topic: Islands.

In the Isle of Coll there can be lots of rain. (Maja)

In Madagascar it can be very hot and rainy. (Ellie G)

Madagascar is quite different from other countries as their winter is hotter than their summer.   The months are different to ours. (Aaron)

There are no trees on Coll as it’s too windy.  (Mathew)

Primary 3

I have enjoyed playing games to learn number bonds. (Lilly)

I have enjoyed watching the Katie Morag programme and writing my Katie Morag story (Ellie Grieve)

I have enjoyed playing the number bond to 100 games  (Darcy)

I enjoyed our silly daily mile as we were walking around the lamp posts. (Tatiana)

Calum, Jake, Ellie G, Maja and Rosa have shared their learning with Miss Morrison this week.

Well done everyone in P3!

P3 Achievements

All pupils in P3  completed a 5 week ‘Fun Start Fitness’ course today.  During the 5 weeks they have learned lots about mental wellbeing, the importance of water, physical exercise, diet and teeth.  James from Broxburn United Sports Club, who led the sessions, was very impressed with effort, enthusiasm to learn and behaviour.  We hope they can share their learning at home.

Well done to all the P3s!
