Primary 3 Number Homework

Miss McLaughlin has set each Number group their very own Sumdog  challenge. This will consolidate the concepts we will be learning in Number work over the next two weeks. The challenge will be live from 9.00 tomorrow morning and end at 12.30 on Friday 12th October.

Children should try to access their challenge at home by logging in and clicking on the ‘Challenge’ button at the left-hand side of the screen. This will automatically change the focus of the games to the concepts we are practising.

Please don’t worry if you cannot access Sumdog from home – there will also be time given in class to play.

Complete the challenge and earn 400 coins!

Good luck!

Miss M 🙂

Fun Time Friday

Today we had our first Fun Time Friday of the school year. Fun Time Friday is an opportunity for all our children to select an activity that they are interested in and take part in it with peers across different classes. We had a range of activities to choose from which the children brainstormed at Pumphie Pals last session.

Primary 3

What were we learning?

To build up the story of a group of people from the past.

How would we know if we were successful?

  • We would be able to talk about a group of people from the past (the Victorians).
  • We would be able to compare our lives today with life in the past.

What did we do?

  • We have been following the life of a Victorian child named William Moss through his diary entries.
  • We are learning about different aspects of Victorian life that he mentions in his entries (home life, working life, toys, his Queen).
  • We explored different library books linked to the Victorians to find out more information.
  • We built a class display to follow William’s life and made our own characters that ‘time-travelled’ back to be with him!
Our class display
Making clothes-peg dolls to play with

We will soon be learning to write diary entries like William’s, but for our own characters!

Until next time…

Library Club – 20/09/18

Last week at Library Club we thought about  sharing. Moira read The Smartest Giant in Town written by Julia Donaldson and illustrated by Axel Scheffler. The giant showed us how happy it made him feel when he could share and help.

We then helped each to make friendship bracelets.  Have a look at our 25 children and families working together and sharing skills.

Families Learning Together

We had a fantastic turn out for our first Families Learning Together session today. Families joined their children so they could share their learning in their jotters so far this term. They also had the opportunities to give two stars and a wish about their learning. Thank you to everyone who made it along.
