Families Learning Together 3

We had a fantastic turn out for our third Families Learning Together session last week. Families joined their children so they could share their learning in their jotters so far this term. They also had the opportunities to give two stars and a wish about their learning. Thank you to everyone who made it along.

Thank you to our P7 Young Leaders who helped out at this event.

Sharing Our STEM Learning

On Wednesday 13th March we invited our families to come and share our STEM Learning with us. They joined in lots of different activities with their children, you can see some the learning opportunities below.

Thank you to everyone who came along to join us.

Primary 7 shared some of their learning about China and how they have been comparing a school day in China to their own.

Feedback from our survey included:

What did you find out about your child’s learning that you did not already know?

  • That they were doing human biology.
  • My child knows more than he shows at home.
  • I saw Didbook for the first time, it’s great.
  • My child  is happy to accept help when offered

What other information would you like us to provide during Visit My Class sessions?

  • Some feedback from teachers. I feel the gap is maybe a touch long between feedback sessions.
  • If there is anything my child needs to improve on.

In what other ways can we support you to support your child at home?

Dress Down Day: 2nd April

As the 29th March is our Celebration Assembly we will NOT be having a dress down day on this date. Please see below for information on our next dress down day.

Primary 1 have their trip on 2nd April. They should wear their school jumper/ cardigan but can wear what they would like on their bottoms.

Primary 3 STEM Learning

What were we learning?

To use 3D drawings to show design ideas.

How would we know if we were successful?

  • We would be able to follow sets of instructions to create a 3D drawing.
  • We would be able to use line and colour to show our designs.
  • We would be able to use other home designs as inspiration for our own.
  • We would be able to talk about our designs with other people.

What did we do?

  • We had been given the challenge of designing a brand-new ‘eco-home’.
  • We researched the different types of houses in our local area and thought about the good/not-so-good elements of each.
  • We then used 3D techniques to create drawings of our potential designs. Have a look at some of them below!

Our next step is to consider which materials we would use to build our homes. We will be looking at recyclable/non-recyclable building materials. After that, it’s time to make models!

Below is a photo of our first proper batch of recycled crayons! Thanks to all who have donated old, broken or unused crayons!

Until next time…
