As part of our rainforest topic we created 3d snakes. We had to follow instructions to make our snakes.

Our trip to Amazonia!
We had a fantastic trip to Amazonia where we got to experience what it would be like to be in a rainforest. Â It was very hot and humid. There were lots of plants just like the ones we have been learning about. We also got a chance to see some of the animals and handle some that are found in the rainforest. There was a python called Evie, a gecko called Bubbles and a tarantula called Rose. We were very brave!
This week our focus has been Rights Respecting Schools. Eve updated us with what is happening in the Magale school. Â She told us they have used the money from our last fundraiser to buy chickens for the school.
We used the internet to investigate how to look after chickens. Then we worked in groups to create posters showing how to look after chickens. We will be presenting our posters at the Magale assembly.
This week we have been out in the playground imagining we are in the rainforest! Some of us were spider monkeys, some of us were boa constrictors and some of us were blue and yellow macaws. We were linking with maths because we were
learning about grids and we were using co ordinates to find the right part of the rainforest to be in.
Rainforest Topic
We were finding out about the canopy layer of the rainforest. Â The height of the canopy layer is 30 metres. We went outside into the playground to measure this. We were using our maths skills in our topic.
All pupils in P3 completed a 5 week ‘Fun Start Fitness’ course today.  During the 5 weeks they have learned lots about mental wellbeing, the importance of water, physical exercise, diet and teeth.  James from Broxburn United Sports Club, who led the sessions, was very impressed with effort, enthusiasm to learn and behaviour.  We hope they can share their learning at home.
Well done to all the P3s!
We have just started our new topic. We are going to be learning about rainforests. Here are some facts we have learned already:
‘ Rainforests are found in tropical countries near the equator’. Lilly
‘ We have learned about the five top countries where rainforests can be found: Brasil, Congo, Peru, Indonesia and Colombia.’ Eve
‘We have learned they are called rainforests because the trees are very tall’ Arianna
‘We have learned they are called rainforests because it rains every day and rains as much as 200cms a year!’ Jaxson
‘ There are lots of plants and animals found in the rainforests’ Olivia B

Last week we looked at other pieces of art work from Jolomo (John Lowrie Morrison). Here are more paintings in the style of Jolomo. Â We hope you like them. This week we used primary colours ( blue /white / black). We mixed primary colours to make secondary colours ( we mixed white and red to get pink).
Every term teachers complete a planned Learning Overview – showing the learning which is planned for this term. Â This is sent home in your child’s bag and is also available on the blog from the menu at the top of the page or by clicking this link here.
